Truth is, you will not always know when a guy is flirting with you. My fiance has a very flirty nature. It's not necessarily that he tries to flirt with people, it just sometimes is taken that way.
There are, of course, some signs that are good indications, but they are definitely not foolproof. Smiling at you, staring at you, starting up flirty conversations, winking at you, etc. are just a few. But flirting can range from things that you might never think of as flirting to things that are completely obvious. It depends on the person doing the flirting.
The best way to know is just to sit back and pay attention. Your guess is as good as any. And if you have interest in this person, flirt back.

Does he look at your eyes? Does he stand close to you? Does he "perform" (speak loudly or create some commotion so you'll look) in front of others when you are near? Does he act interested in you? Ask questions about you? Does he make little silly jokes that ever so slightly put you down (in a funny kind of way)? Then yes, he's flirting.

If you think he's flirting with you, there's a good chance he is. Your question should have been ''What do I do if a guy is flirting with me?'' The ''ball'' as they say ''is in your court!''

how can you NOT know
does he hang around you for no apparent reason?
does he make jokes that really aren't funny?
does he do little things that make you think that he's into you?
then yeah he's a flirt

You'll know if he's flirting with you. If you can't figure it out then he is just having casual conversation....

says sweet things, keeps on picking at you not in a negative way but saying things like see look at ya tripping over yourself. he watches every mistake u do and picks at it is what I'm tryna say. trys to get close to you.
