That goes to the root of a belief in an absolute truth, which is what most religions ascribe to. Two different "truths" can never coexist.

They can coexist. This does not mean they have to get along. Jesus sure wasn't a "Can't we all just get along" kind of messiah. He spoke out against false religion at every given opportunity. He even told the religious leaders that they were from their father the Devil (John 8:44).

John 8:39 "Abraham is our father," they answered (religious leaders).

"If you were Abraham's children," said Jesus, "then you would[d] do the things Abraham did. 40 As it is, you are determined to kill me, a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God. Abraham did not do such things. 41 You are doing the things your own father does."

"We are not illegitimate children," they protested. "The only Father we have is God himself."

42 Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now am here. I have not come on my own; but he sent me. 43 Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. 44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45 Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me!"

You can ask that about anything. Why so much hate over politics these days? It comes down to who thinks they have truth. And when you put Christianity up against other religions, there can only be one result. It was said long ago there would be offense. And how true it is.

I believe it's because some of them teach that their religion is the RIGHT religion - and some people really believe that. They will even kill over it.

I choose not to be part of a religion that says it is the RIGHT one. Believing that your spiritual/religious belief is the right one - and telling others that their religious/spiritual beliefs are wrong - is the first step toward war.

Namaste!

Have Christianity and Islam ever really gotten along? Their ideas are opposite each other. In one there is peace, in the other murder for reward in heaven. In one is salvation, in the other damnation. In one women are treated worse than dogs, in the other they are respected, and even voted into office. In one a false prophet makes the men vain by definition, in the other humbleness is encouraged. These two "belief systems" must clash in the future, as prophesied.

Islam preached for that 14 centuries ago. Christianity is the most intolerant of all religions.

The reason they can't get along is because of the lead paint in Chinese-made toys!

Because everyone wants to be "right" therefore you have bickering and bantoring between them all. Like Dr. Phil says, " Do you want to be right or do you want to be happy"? I feel I am right in my thinking and attitudes but will not argue with anyone about it. I'd rather be happy.
