Yes unfortunately that situation has existed for a few hundred years, even since the plague of denominationalism appeared upon the earth. You can avoid such confusion however, simply be looking at the situation that existed before the advent of unauthorized manmade churches. One Church, founded by Jesus Christ for all mankind, teaching the fullness of truth in unity, just as He commanded. That's what every Christian should seek. You can find it in just one place. The Holy Catholic Church. Why would you look elsewhere?

I investigated a lot of churches throughout my life and into my late 20s. Once I found the LDS church (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints). It all fell into place.
One of the things that impressed me the most was that there was never any pressure to join, and there were no put-downs of other religions. It was basically read the Bible and the Book of Mormon and pray about it.
Also, they don't have a paid professional clergy, so they can be honest about their stance on issues.
So much of what I had learned about Christianity and world religions seemed to fall into place once I learned about the LDS Church.

No. But I've definitely been theologically confused. I was raised in my church since infancy, but I've spent many years studying various beliefs (my own and many, many others). I occasionally find the wide array of beliefs and philosophies rather daunting. There have been times when I've wondered whether my own beliefs are right...and if not, whose are? Normally, I enjoy religious studies and research, but there have been moments when I've become frustrated and was left wondering what exactly what I'm supposed to believe. The more research I do, the more questions I seem to have.

once upon a time. However, I never really gave up. My search is for God now and not for which church to join. When that became my focus, which church to join became clear.

I was never really confused. Once I figured out Santa was fake the rest all fell into place.
All religion is a scam, a lie, a deception meant to control your mind and rob you of free will.

No. I turned my back on Christianity because of the lies and the hate.
Any religion that claims to be the only way to God is a lie.

unluid,
Just keep reading God's word-the Bible. That is the key. In Romans 10:17 God says, "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." FAITH is a synonym for Jesus Christ (Revelation 19:11). So then CHRIST cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
Only Christ can save you! We can do nothing to get ourselves saved....this is what most people do not understand. They "think" water baptism washes away sins. They think doing good works builds up credit to get into heaven. There is NOTHING we can do to get ourselves saved. The Bible says, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast."
In Titus 3:5 we read, "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;"
Here is another proof: "Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified."
Man is spiritually DEAD in sins and trespasses (Ephesians 2:1). If we are to be saved, our sins have to paid for. The only way to pay for them is to go to hell forever. Unless we can find someone to take our place or be our substitute, then we will have to go to hell forever to pay for our sins. Only Jesus Christ the God-man could pay this trmendous penalty and come out alive. That is what Jesus did when He went to the cross. It was not the nails or crown of thorns or the whipping with the whips that paid for our sins, it was what we could not see. When Jesus was in the Garden of Gethsemanae, He began to endure the wrath of God....when He was throwing Himself to the ground....saying if it was possible, let this cup pass from me, but not my will but thine be done. This is where He was enduring the equivalent of spending eternity in hell condensed into the hours between the Garden of Gethsemanae and when He said on the cross, "It is finished." In that space of time, Jesus had paid the sin debt for all those whom He had chosen to save (Ephesians 1:3-5).
We do not know who these "chosen ones" are but God knows. The Bible tells us it is a great multitude that no man can number. You may be one of these "chosen ones" because God is no respector of persons. Keep reading the Bible and ask God to have mercy on you. The Bible says in Lamentations 3:26, "It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD."
You may not understand alot of things in the Bible but keep reading and make some notes of things you "see." I remember the 1st thing God showed me.....It was in Proverbs 14:12 and John 14:6.

Almost. If your heart truly seeks, God will definitely help you find something as important as that. According to the bible He will even send his servants to you versus having you go to His servants.

nope, I find the belief in a perfect, loving god preposterous. In this world we live in if anything this god or these gods is/are more like human with our imperfections.
