I do not want to invest in a high-tech surveilliance system. I wish to purchase some type of device that will tell me if a door has been opened. I do not need this notification to communicate with me remotely. Clearly, the intruder should not be able to "reset" it, thereby defeating its purpose.
Thanks in advance

A low tech device that can't be reset is one the intruder doesn't know is there, such as a small piece of paper on the top of the door in a specific location, a human hair stuck between the door and the frame with spit, at a specific location, a piece of paper trapped in the door on closing with a tiny corner showing held by a fingernail edge.
Knowing where it was and having it either high or low makes it less detectable.

Close the door and jam a small piece of thread in it. Nobody notices the thread, and when you get back if the thread is not there but on the floor, you know the door's been opened.
