This is funny to me because i post mainly about football and vegetarianism. It really isnt a bad place to ask though, we are good cooks and you can put bbq sauce on things apart from meat. Anyway, when i make sauce it is kind of a feel like thing with no measurements. It starts with some vegetable oil, you simmer that and put some onion and garlic in it, personally i like to get a couple fresh jalapeño and put just the seeds in at this stage as well, but i make it really spicy and i know how sensitive you meat eaters are with your stomachs and all so you may not want to do this. then you put in some ketchup, tomato paste, apple juice, and cider vinegar, and moe lass is (tomato paste and ketchup use about the same amount, apple juice and cider vinegar use about the amount of the ket/tom together) and spice that all up with some various herbs (very much a feel like thing for me about what herbs) chili powder brown sugar and some hot sauce. turn the heat down and let that simmer for an hour or longer monitoring the consistency and making adjustments as necessary based on the taste.

That is kind of hard since BBQ sauce is so different in different parts of the country.
I perfer a tomatoe based sauce and not a vinegar based sauce because I live in Kansas and that is what I was raised on.
So my favorite is Curly's BBQ Sauce.

Mine is definitely Cookies BBQ sauce, the original kind. My customers wouldn't settle for anything else either. It's from Iowa.
