A lot of professional riders will go for the custom paint job. If fashion is important to you, it might be worth the 100 or so notes that this would cost.

All helmets make the ultimate fashion statement: I have something in my head that's worth protecting. Check the web, Giro and Bell are the two biggest manufacturers. If you don't like any of their offerings, you probably won't like any helmets. So remember what you're really saying by wearing a helmet, and buy the one you find least repugnant.
