It depends on what kind of cancer it is. You need to consult with your vet on this.

Blimey, if only it could!

Cancer Research spends millions per year trying to find a cure for cancer. Sadly, we don't even yet understand what really causes it, and until we do we won't be able to find a cure. Currently the only thing we can do is chemo or radiotherapy to shrink tumours, but not every tumour is a suitable candidate, and there's always the risk the tumour won't respond or that it will reoccur.

Talk to the vet about palliative treatment for your dog - that is, meds and a diet to keep his quality of life as good as possible for as long as possible.

What treatment has the vet suggested? Can the growth be removed? If so, what are the odds of it reoccuring? These are all questions you should be asking your vet - I'm afraid no one on here can offer any useful advice other than to talk to a vet.

You should have the leg amputated. Just removing the tumor will still leave a great chance for the spread of cancerous cells. Chances are, they have already spread. Usually by the time you see it, it's already too late. But you might buy some painfree time by amputating the leg. I personally would NEVER, NEVER put my dog through chemo. It's just too cruel. Meds aren't the answer. Vitamins won't hurt, but truthfully they won't help either. I'm so sorry.

Our dog had the same thing and the vet advised us to get it removed. If you dont you run the risk of it causing other serious health issues. Best one to ask is the vet for there are different types of growths too.

Yeah! VETERINARIANS know what medications to give for big cancerous growths. YOU ARE NOT QUALIFIED TO DIAGNOSE YOUR DOG.
