..........I would probably be put into a mental institute.

I mean if a carpenter came up to you and said l"eave all your family and follow me, I am the son of God, I will show you the way" it is not very likely that you would just go home and say "Hey missus, Im buggering off with Derek the chippy for a tour of the world, he is going to show me the way"

And Jesus managed to get 12 people to do this!

Now I am no bible expert but this story seems a little fishy to me.

Am I missing something?

Well, if you brought people back to life, healed diseases etc, you might be believed.

I'd say your missing 2000 years of prophesy that came before His arrival...and an entire 39-chapter first volume of the Bible.

The only place I know where starting in the final 25% of a book and going from there really helps is when you are using an encyclopedia, dictionary or phone book and want to look up something which starts with S. But, that is what those who believe the Bible starts at Matthew 1:1, and not Genesis 1:1, do-whether they like how the book ends or not.

I keep reading all these questions and answers-by atheists, Catholics, Protestants, Muslims, even rabbinic Jews who decide they really don't want to know how it all ends and overlook so much of their own story--and I wonder why these people believe as they do.

The Bible--both volumes of the same book--is 1 part Old Testament and 2 parts New...The story of what happened BEFORE AND LEADING UP TO THE ARRIVAL OF THE CARPENTER WHO WAS PROPHESIED 500 YEARS BEFORE HE CAME....is the one part Old.

The story of His arrival and the story of what happened as a result of His leaving, as the law went from the flesh to the Spirit that was to dwell inside the Believers are the other 2 parts.

Those who truly read the two books, and truly understand the transition from flesh to spirit, from sacrificing animals to making the greatest sacrifice of them all, from a whole slew of high priests who could not keep the people from going astray to one High Priest-the Highest there is-who taught people how to live in the spirit of kindness, compassion, love, forgiveness, et al.

I read how people knock that and, as a child of the 60's and 70's--I truly wonder, what is so wrong with wanting to live in a spirit of love, charity, kindness, etc.? I honestly do not see what there is to knock about the way the Bible says we are to live---not how peopel DO LIVE, but how it was written We are SUPPOSED TO LIVE if we are in the spirit,

Honestly-I truly do not understand sometimes except that it is His plan why people have such a hard time living in the spirit.

The fact is, that at most, about 5000, mostly ignorant people believed anything of the sort during Jesus' life. Christianity was barely a boil on the rear of the roman empire when the emperor Constantine converted and therefore converted millions of roman citizens. If it weren't for him, Christianity likely would have died out like every other cult born of those times.

yep. he didnt say that he was the son of god, for one. first of all he told the fisherman to cast their net to the other side of the boat when they were getting no fish and the net was filled to the brim. it was a miracle basically. then he told them to follow him and he was amazing to them so they did.

also, the bible has been proven to be the most historically accurate document by many historians and scholars. so regardless of whether you believe in jesus, there is history to back it up.

Jehovah's Witnesses actually DO have faith Jesus to be the Son of God. further, Jehovah's Witnesses comprehend that Jesus is a deity, a god in accordance to the Bible itself. of direction, the Bible teaches that Almighty Jehovah ("God the daddy") has no friends. yet, the bible evidently mentions different "gods". .. ..(a million Corinthians 8:5) there are people who're called “gods,” whether in heaven or in the international Jesus as "a god": (John a million:a million; Isaiah 9:6; John a million:18) Angels as 'gods': (Psalm eighty two:a million) devil as a 'god': (2 Corinthians 4:4) Human judges as "gods": (Psalm eighty two:6-8) No human or angel would desire to ever compete with Almighty God, and the bible is obvious to avert that suggestion. Jehovah is "the only genuine God" in the experience that He has no rival. .. ..(Psalm 86:8,10) there is none such as you between the gods, O Jehovah... you're God, you by myself. .. ..(Exodus 22:20) guy or woman who sacrifices to any gods yet Jehovah by myself is to be committed to destruction. further, in basic terms Jehovah the daddy advantages worshipful "unique devotion". Jesus himself made the element that the daddy merits a different form of committed "sacred service". .. ..(Exodus 20:2,5) i'm Jehovah your God... I Jehovah your God am a God exacting unique devotion .. ..(Matthew 4:10) Jesus pronounced to him: “...‘that is Jehovah your God you would be able to desire to worship, and that is to him by myself you would be able to desire to render sacred service.

Yes, you're missing quite a lot. To begin with, Jesus was no ordinary man.
