"Kingsley" is absolutely correct. The best airline serving most cities in the Pacific northwest region of the United States is Alaska Airlines. Great service too.

By the way, I heard you just had a birthday not long ago so, "Happy Birthday".

The flight from Portland to SoCal is about 2 1/2 hours. No entertainment is provided. If you want a pre-reserved seat, go for Alaska. If you don't care (and want cheaper fares) go for Southwest. In both cases you will get a bag of snack mix and a soda on the flight in coach. In first class in Alaska, you'll get a real food snack and free alcohol. Southwest does not have a first class.

The flight is short enough (and the planes are full enough) that service is about the same - the flight attendants will go up and down the aisles twice offering sodas etc. That's it.

I've done both - the quality of the staff on the planes doesn't seem to differ a lot - there's good and bad; the individuals you get are more critical than who they are flying for.

They both seem to have flights during the windows you're looking for (although SWA seems to have more in the morning). For exact times and dates, you can check www.alaskaairlines.com and www.iflyswa.com.

It's not a long flight, so don't expect to be entertained or fed. Southwest is your best bet.
