Love the Lord our God with all of our heart, mind and strength. Love our neighbors as ourselves. We should please God in everything that we do.

Well first ignore people like "Citizen of Reality". I feel that as long as you perform positively in every way that you can then God will shine positive light on you. If for some reason you are uncomfortable, its probably a sign u shldnt do it, or that you should pray to God and watch for an answer. Do be a cheerleader, but dont let the clothes change who you are inside, be you- a "Christian lady" was how u put it :)

Since you're already a Christian (I suppose), you know that the only thing (person) that God honored and that honored God fully was His Son Jesus Christ. To honor God, we must honor Christ by the way in which we live our lives. We must live a Christ-like life, for this alone honors God. As we grow in our relationship with Christ, we should become more like Him. This affects the way we talk, act, the way we treat others, the love we display for our fellow man, our attitudes and all we do in life. Pleasing God is what Christ alone did, so when we live a life in Christ, this pleases the Father. All this stems from our love and devotion to Jesus Christ.

The idea that what humans do brings God glory is false, something invented by dualistic "God up there and us sinners down here" evangalist types.
Stuff WE do might make God seem more glorious to US.
God is self-contained. God IS glory. How can you add or take away from that?

Colossians 1: 10-12: And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light.
1 Timothy 2:1-4: I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.
The one most quoted: Hebrews 11:6: And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
