My son is getting ready to start school next year and I am getting so scared. I don't know how I'm going to get through it. He keeps telling me that he's ready to start school but I really don't want him to go. I know he has a whole year but it goes by so fast. I think he'll do good but I think I might have a panic attack

Starting school I never had a problem with...now, driver's ed class is when I broke down and sobbed and sobbed.
I was always so excited for my kids to start kindergarten...be around their little friends, learn all day and have fun! I love that age (well, I love every age...) when you can just see the little wheels turning in their minds as they learn new things every day!
If you have a panic attack, you won't be the first Mom in history...but if you are happy with their school, their teacher and their surroundings it might help comfort you some.
Best wishes!!

My son (first born) started headstart this year. For about a month before he actually started going I drove him by the school and showed him the outside toys they have which excited him. If they have an open house night, take your child with you so he can see what the class room looks like and meet his teacher, and so can you. It was hard to leave him the first day, but after I picked him up and saw he was ok it made me feel better. I am a stay at home mom so I am used to having both my children home with me 24/7. It's hard to trust others with your child. He has been going for a month now and everyday I still try to pick that place apart to find something wrong so I can just bring him back home with me. lol. But what he is learning there is more important I guess. After the first couple days you will be fine.

Oh I feel for you I remember my son's first day at school he was so excited and wanted to go. When we got there he said you can go now mummy I'm big now I was so sad I just wanted to sit in the class with him all day.

I ended up going to my mothers house and I had a big as cry I was so sad that my little man was growing up so fast.

You will be ok though it's hard to know what to do with your time tho and you miss them for ages but when they start bringing home cool pictures they have done and going on trips and things you'll see it's so much fun for both of you.

Enjoy this year with him :-)

It is a very hard thing to do, my son started this year and all I can say is positive things. His self confidence has improved out of site! There are little things that can upset you, like not being in complete control of there surrounds anymore and this is very hard. But I do realise that I have done the best job I can in instilling in him the right values so that as he starts to make more decisions he will make the right ones. This isn't always the case but he is still learning....
