REV 6:12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;
And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.
And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.
And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand? And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth,

8:10 The third angel sounded, and a great star fell from the sky, burning like a torch, and it fell on one third of the rivers, and on the springs of the waters.

8:11 The name of the star is called "Wormwood." One third of the waters became wormwood. Many people died from the waters, because they were made bitter.

8:12 The fourth angel sounded, and one third of the sun was struck, and one third of the moon, and one third of the stars; so that one third of them would be darkened, and the day wouldn't shine for one third of it, and the night in the same way.

8:13 I saw, and I heard an eagle, flying in mid heaven, saying with a loud voice, "Woe! Woe! Woe for those who dwell on the earth, because of the other voices of the trumpets of the three angels, who are yet to sound!"

Of course it has to do with Wormwood, its says so quite plainly (8:11). Meteor/asteroid, whatever, it will be pretty catastrophic.

The 6th Seal, is the beginning of the 6th Age , it has already pasted. The 7th season, the season of rest of the 6th age took place 1680 until 1960.

The great earthquake, and the sun became a sackcloth, and the moon as blood all happened the day Jesus died.

The stars of the heaven fell unto the earth as a fig tree cast off her untimely figs was the bombs falling during the World Wars.

The heavens departed as a scroll, was atomic bombs. The men hiding were hiding in bomb shelters.

The 4 angels are holding back the winds, until the 6 trump of the 7th Age.(Rev 9:14).

1st Trumpet (Rev 8:7)
Is happening Now. This is the floods and rainfall follow by drought, famine, desease, pestilence, and economic woes.

2nd Trumpet (Rev 8:8)
Has not happened, it will happen in the year 2100 AD
It will be an volcanic eruption, depleting all the oxygen in the oceans.

3rd Trumpet (Rev 8:10)
Has not happened, it will happen in the year 2240 AD
It will be a meteor that falls in the ocean, and will contaminate the rain.

4th Trumpet (Rev 8:12)
Has not happened, it will happen in the year 2380 AD
It will be caused by the meteor clouds.

Every Age has 7 Trumpets, (7 seasons) however only the 7th and final Age, has 7 "utterances" instead of a season of rest.

The same story is being told beginning in Rev 16:17- 18:24

As you well know the language of Revelations is so very difficult to interpret and if taken literally then yes it would appear that you are correct, Wormwood is the Star that will fall on the Earth, but the name Wormwood has other connotations.
In Russian language Wormwood means Chernobyl which as you know was the town where the terrible nuclear accident happened in the 80`s, also in Revelations the name star/stars is also a reference to Lucifer and the fallen Angels.
Some believe that Wormwood is the comet that will appear in the not too distant future and will either strike the Earth or come so close as to cause incredible tsunami`s and earthquakes.

This designates many, frequently somewhat woody, plants having an intensely bitter taste and a strong aromatic odor. Several varieties of wormwood are found in Palestine, particularly in desert areas. The most common is the Artemisia herba-alba, a small shrub growing 40 cm (16 in.) tall. In Scripture, wormwood is compared to the aftereffects of immorality (Pr 5:4) and the bitter experience that was to come and did come upon Judah and Jerusalem at the hands of the Babylonians. (Jer 9:15; 23:15; La 3:15, 19) It also represents injustice and unrighteousness (Am 5:7; 6:12) and is used with reference to apostates. (De 29:18) At Revelation 8:11, wormwood denotes a bitter and poisonous substance, also called absinthe.“And the third angel blew his trumpet. And a great star burning as a lamp fell from heaven, and it fell upon a third of the rivers and upon the fountains of waters. And the name of the star is called Wormwood. And a third of the waters turned into wormwood, and many of the men died from the waters, because these had been made bitter.” (Revelation 8:10, 11)

*** re chap. 21 p. 137 par. 31 Jehovah’s Plagues on Christendom ***

31 When the clergy of Christendom apostatized from true Christianity, they fell from the lofty “heavenly” position described by Paul at Ephesians 2:6, 7. Instead of offering fresh waters of truth, they served up “wormwood,” bitter lies such as hellfire, purgatory, the Trinity, and predestination; also, they led the nations into war, failing to build them up as moral servants of God. The result? Spiritual poisoning of those who believed the lies. Their case was similar to that of the unfaithful Israelites of Jeremiah’s day, to whom Jehovah said: “Here I am making them eat wormwood, and I will give them poisoned water to drink. For from the prophets of Jerusalem apostasy has gone forth to all the land.”—Jeremiah 9:15; 23:15.

*** re chap. 21 p. 138 par. 34 Jehovah’s Plagues on Christendom ***

Because of the preaching of Jehovah’s Witnesses, great numbers of people have come to realize that many doctrines taught by the clergy are spiritual poison—“wormwood.”

re the stuff about Chernobyl...

The word chornobyl’ does not appear in the Ukrainian bible's version of Revelation. Strange that....

Watch out with this stuff mate - you will be dealing with some very odd people! (I never understand the 'rapture' crowd, they love talking about how bad it will be when it happens - but presumably they will all be 'lifted' anyway - why the hell should they worry? Anyway if it happens it sounds like a good deal to me.)

Nuclear war. Read Ezekiel too. It prophesies this in the old testament too.
