what are some good HEALTHY (preferably low cal/ low sugar) smoothie recipes? i have unsweetened plain yogurt, so i can use that, and i can use splenda to sweeten, but wat should i put to flavor it?

Strawberry Orange Banana Smoothie

1-1/2 C. frozen unsweetened whole strawberries
1 banana, peeled and cut up
1/2 C. orange (or apple) juice
1/2 C. nonfat vanilla or other flavor yogurt (not frozen)
1/2 C. small ice cubes
2 Tbs. protein powder (optional)

In a blender, whirl together all ingredients until smooth and thick. Serve immediately. Makes about 3 C.

Blended Fruit Chiller

3 cups fat-free plain yogurt
1 cup unsweetened pineapple juice, chilled
1 cup fresh or frozen unsweetened strawberries
1 medium ripe banana, sliced
1/2 cup fresh or canned unsweetened pineapple chunks
3 tablespoons honey
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Place half of each ingredient in a blender; cover and process until blended. Empty smoothie into a glass. Repeat the process with the other half of the ingredients. Makes 2 smoothies.

Peach Melba Smoothie

1 C. unsweetened frozen whole raspberries
1 C. unsweetened frozen peach slices
1/2 C. nonfat frozen vanilla yogurt
1 C. orange juice
1/4 C. water

In a blender container, whirl all ingredients together until smooth. Serve immediately. Makes 1 to 2 servings.

Basic Fruit Smoothie

Original recipe yield: 4 servings

INGREDIENTS
1 quart strawberries, hulled
1 banana, broken into chunks
2 peaches
1 cup orange-peach-mango juice
2 cups ice

DIRECTIONS
In a blender, combine strawberries, banana and peaches. Blend until fruit is pureed. Blend in the juice. Add ice and blend to desired consistency. Pour into glasses and serve.

Banana Berry Smoothie

INGREDIENTS
1 banana, frozen and chunked
1 cup frozen raspberries
3/4 cup orange juice
1/4 cup vanilla yogurt

DIRECTIONS
In a blender, combine banana, raspberries, orange juice and yogurt. Blend until smooth. Pour into glasses and serve.


Tropical Pineapple Smoothies

INGREDIENTS
1 cup fat-free milk
1 (8 ounce) can unsweetened crushed pineapple
1/2 cup unsweetened pineapple juice
3 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon coconut extract
6 ice cubes

DIRECTIONS
Place the first six ingredients in a blender; cover and process until smooth. Add ice cubes; cover and process until smooth.

When I make smoothies I usually use un-sweetened yogurt, spelenda to give it a nice sweet taste , a little bit of milk (usually the over the moon milk:)and then fruits like mixed berries, mango or papaya. Trader Joes has great frozen fruits. My favoirte is the triple berrie combo. That is great in smoothies!

I make smoothies with vanilla non fat yogurt (frozen yo is good too) fruit - use your favorite by itself, or try combos, a little skim milk, and a couple ice cubes - put it all in the blender and wiz on high for a 10-15 secs. If its too thick add more milk. Pour into glasses and are all set.
