Would a god place our most tender reproductive organs in a soft fleshy sack hanging down between our legs where they can so easily be harmed and cuase us so damned much pain?

It seems like a safer place on the body than anywhere else. It's protected by legs on both sides, the tushie from behind (as long as your legs aren't spread wide open or you're bending over) and it's in a place that can be quickly and easily covered by the hands. Where on the body would be better?

This actually is a good location despite what you say about pain. Think of it from a biological point of view. Sperm cannot survive in a very hot or cold environment. This is why your "sack" expands in heat and contracts in cold. This is to protect the sperm. The only way to protect men from the pain of smacking our testicles would be to place them inside the body. This is too warm of an environment for sperm to survive. This is intelligently designed for the purpose of hot/cold environments. Just be careful with yourself and all will be good.

It's easier than carrying them in your purse. You might for get it at Starbucks and then oh man do you have a problem on your hands...

Well, the biological answer is temperature control. They hang down so they stay a bit cooler...if they get too cool, you get "shrinkage".
