I'm looking for an apple with a nice taste and texture. I wish I still lived in NY and could go apple picking. Now I live all the way down in Florida. There aren't apple orchards here :(

Gala! It's the sweetest and crispiest that I've found. It's also the only variety that Publix reliably carries in its organic produce area, which is important to me.

Now that you're in Florida, look into u-pick citrus, muscadine grapes, blueberries, and squash! Look in your local newspaper or go on your region's craigslist, I often find u-picks listed in the "Farm & Garden" section.

I personally like Red Delicious the best.

Not a huge fan of Granny Smith unless I am cooking them.

granny smith or golden delicious. I hate the sweetness of the red apples, but i love the tartness of the green ones.

My absolute fave is Golden Delicious.

If those are not reasonably priced, then I like Fujis and Pink Ladies.
