If he is still living, why the pbuh? I get doing it after the Prophet, who is dead, but Isa escaped death and his betrayer was killed instead.

Also, does anyone else find it offensive when a Muslim says pbuh after Jesus? I do.

I am tolerant, but I find that level of Blasphemy to be maddening, the lowering of God to a mere prophet...

and our isa bin maryam (as u call him) is ur jesus.
u believe jesus is a god, or the son of god.
we believe he was human, and was god's prophet to his ppl. which is why he is human, so he communicate with them.
explainin islam to u here is pointless but i suggest u try to read on it.

First of all Jesus (or Isa in arabic) is not a Muslim prophet he is a prophet. And for those who don't know PBUH means Peace Be Upon Him. When Muslims says the name of a prophet (Jesus, Moses, Mohammad, ...) they says PBUH afer his name as a sign of respect. It's a sign of distinction, it tells that the person is talking about a Prophet not an ordinary person... Don't be offended by it.... you should be happy that Muslims honor and respect the one you believe in, Jesus.

Assalamo Alaikum! 1. The Holy ProphetSAW said: "If Moses and Jesus had been alive, they would have had to believe in me and follow me." (Zurqani, Vol. VI, p. 54, Tibrani Kabeer, Alyawaqeet Wal Jawahir, Vol. II, p. 23) The key word here is 'had been alive' indicating that they were dead. Moses' state of being was in the same context of Jesus' state of being, since Moses is dead then Jesus is also dead. 2. During his last illness, the Holy ProphetSAW said to his daughter Hadhrat Fatimara: "Once in every year, Gabriel recited the Quran to me. This year he recited twice. He also told me that every succeeding prophet has lived to half the age of his predecessor. He told me that Jesus, son of Mary, lived to 120 years. Therefore, I think, I may live to about 60 years." (Mawahib-ud-Duniya by Qastalani, Vol. I, p. 42, Kanzul Ummal Vol. 6, p. 160) In Islam, do we believe Isa to have been a messenger? Yes, right? Then surely we must believe that he is dead, for the Quran explicitly states: "And Muhammad is only a Messenger. Verily, (all) Messengers have passed away before him. If then he die or be slain, will you turn your back on your heels?" (3:145) -- Muslim who believes in the Mahdi

We muslims believe in Jesus as a Prophet & we say" peace be upon him" to prophet Mohammed even when he was alive
doesn't everybody want peace?! live or dead? If Jesus pbuh was a god couldn't he just make everybody believe? He had a message from God "Allah" & tried his best.

Because Prophet Isa(PBUH*) is still alive and is still a Prophet even though ALLAH(SWT) saved him from being killed and had Judas killed instead. It's a sign of respect for Prophet Isa(PBUH*) that Muslims say or write (PBUH*) after mentioning Isa's(PBUH*) name.

This PBUH is out of respect it SALA LAHIE SALAAM which is PEACE AND BLESSING BE UPON HIM.. This is said for all of the Prophets and Messengers. We wish peace upon them. A similiar thing is said to greet our fellow brothers and sisters in Islam as well AS SALAAMU ALAIKUM which means may the peace of Allaah be upon you. We wish peace unto each other. If you find believing Jesus (PBUH) to be a Prophet maddening then we find it maddening to say that God died. Allaah is One. Absolute. He begots none nor is He begotten. He has no beginning nor any end.

Not everyone thinks Jesus is g-d.......he just has prophet status in the Muslim religion. He is considered simply a Rabbi in the Jewish religion.

What does PBUH mean anyway????

Well they don't KNOW what happened to Jesus as such, it is only the Hadiths that say he got lifted up and went to heaven. It's not a universally acknowledged thing to my knowledge.

Look... this conundrum CAN be resolved... quickly... easily... economically... once and for all.

My simple solution requires only that for one whole month, every newspaper in the free world devote its front page to offensive cartoons, ridiculing Allah (peace on him) and Mohammed (peace on him, too). By the end of that time, most of Islam will have self-destructed in a paroxysm of snits, hissy-fits and terminal apoplexy. WARNING: This will not be pretty... but the world will be a much better place for it.

My only regret in this is that I cannot think of a similarly uncomplicated, cost-effective and efficient stratagem for dismantling Christianity... but, oh well... one thing at a time. One only does what one can.

The Muslim Prophet Isa bin Maryam died eternally, and was never "assumed" into heaven, but elsewhere.
