God said He would put the rainbow in the sky to remind Himself to never flood the world again.

Yes we have floods, but they do not wipe out the whole world.

Do you see the rainbow as a sign of God's promise, an actual sign of His presence?

I do.

Absolutely--- if it's in the Bible, it's God's word.

Shakespeare.....how much about Science do you ACTUALLY know? There is major scientific proof that this "mythical" flood did happen, and that many, many things were changed. God created all things.....physics is his, as well.

It amazes me how many people on this forum like to spout "scientific" answers to things without really knowing what they are talking about.

I see the rainbow as the product of light passing through water molecules in the air.

Absolutely! He is not a God which lies! He put that rainbow there to give us the assurance that He would not flood the entire world again!

In as much, I am very pleased to see a rainbow after a pouring rain!

the catch is just that rainbows show up AFTER rain usually, so maybe the reminder trick wont work out (again?)

of course not.

do I believe the laws of physics were somehow different that rainbows/prisms could not exist before some mythical flood? no.

Yes.
Thatis also part of why I believe the scriptural old testament is the law of Moses, not Genesis-Malachi. (The scriptural old testament was done away with when Christ died on the cross).

Any 4 year old with a garden hose on a summer day can recreate this "promise". Doesn't make it seem so supernatural now, does it????
