"Im just making stuff up"

In your journey into music and learning all about it, how to do it, rules, and such .... NEVER EVER forget just to 'make stuff up'

You wil learn a lot, but the only REALLY REALLY important rule for music is "If it sounds good, it IS good".

Now, ask at your local music store. There will likely be teachers there as well. Private lessons are the way to go. Augment it with lessons from the computer, like youtube. And best of all - play. Play and enjoy. Play with other people (even if you suck). They will teach you things.

try a local community college. they might have lessons like for the winter or the summer. thats where I got lessons from.

they taught me about reading music, classical style, fingering it, etc and I managed to get an A(Im not particularly gifted so if I could do it, you probably can too).

Im also learning as I just got some lessons last year on my second semester in college.

Another way is to spend five or six bucks at a local music store and buy Hal Leonard's Guitar Method #1. Inside are valuable tips to get you started, basic chords and music theory.

Practice slow as you read carefully the instructions, and once you get your calluses, you'll be on the way to playing!

Mr. J. We took lessons at our local park. Call your city hall and ask them for the recreation desk. They should have guitar lessons for after school students such as yourself. I hope you don't live in some small town where they don't know what I'm talking about. how sad. Anyway, hope this helps and get a learnin!

These first ones are free, I'm not sure how good they are, most of the good free ones are not there anymore, so try these and see what you think, the second set are sites where you can learn on line or buy their Cd's, DVDs, or books.
