Today I got prescribed skelaxin its a muscle relaxer, and I really do not want to take it. I am getting an xray later on today to see if anything is wrong. I told the doctor when he was writting the prescription that I really didn't want to take anything that was going to make me drowsy because I am a full time college student and I am constantly studying and I wont be able to study if im all loopy from my medicine. I have an appointment on monday for him to review the xray. I really am not in enough pain that I need the medicine I just want to know he will be notified if I did bring it to the pharmacy.

I'm not sure, but possibly. They CANNOT however MAKE you take the meds.

You could just tell him that you wanted to wait to see what the x-ray had to reveal before you spent the money on the medication or something like that.

There is no way the doctor will know if you get the prescription filled or not. Quiet honestly, he doesn't have the time to call around to every pharmacy in any given city to see if one customer has filled their script or not. After all, he writes 100's of them every day. It's his job to issue it and it's up to you whether or not you take it. You should not take the medicine if you aren't comfortable doing so. I think that's kind of admirable of you b/c most people these days would use any excuse they could to be doped up on muscle relaxers. Hope you get better soon!

It is up to the doctor to call the pharmacy and not the other way around.
