You need to concentrate on getting your own education and stop worrying about your brother.

Call the local board of education and see how you can at least get your GED - or maybe home study for a diploma. When your brother sees you really trying to improve your life by getting a better education, maybe, just maybe he'll follow suit.

At the very least you'll be better able to support your own child - who will learn the value of a good education from watching you get yours.

Ask him what kind of car, house, and toys he wants to have as an adult.

When he puts a price tag on these items calculate how much he can make with minimum wage since he will not have a diploma.

Then go on to say that he will never be able to afford the finer things in life if he does not stay in school.

When he tells you he can work under the table for money at a mechanics shop then explain to him that you need credit to buy a house and a car and that he will not get approved for credit if he can not prove that we works.

So the only way to get the fancy sh*t is to get a JOB and you need an education to get a job,,, Also remind him that he will need an education no matter what! And that it is so much easier to do it now instead of later.

Adding to that, you could tell him you are concerned because you love and care about him and want him to succeed in life. I would look for non-verbal cues that he may really want to do it, but there are other problems/concerns in his life, that he doesn't know where to start or he is afraid of something. I would work with him on it as much as you can and give him encouragement. Good luck :).
