- God is in this world(immanent) and above this world(transcendent) at the same time
- God is not only above science,He works with science because He is both on earth and in Heaven at the same time
- You cannot disprove God's existence when He is not just limited to this world
- Everything on earth is material, since God is above the material world, one cannot give a scientific explanation to disprove God's existence

You seem to imply that if you do not believe in God, you must have some clear, neat alternative for existence. God is the easiest answer, but not the most likely. If the universe is indeed infinite, then all possibilities will eventually come to pass within it. You (and I) just happen to be observing this moment in it's cycle of possibilities. And your logic seems a little flawed in respect to the Big Bang. Just because what ever happened before the Big Bang is unobservable does not exclude it happening without divine intervention. I could theorize that this universe is the by product of the death of a much larger universe that collapsed into itself. I could also say that gravity is sentient, and intentionally obeying the laws of physics just to make the universe (and us) possible. Or that we are an elaborate test program, and if it works out, God will go ahead and populate the rest of the universe once he sees how well we did with this great gift of life. Or everything is just random. Not much way of knowing while we're still alive.

This is a fair question which I think deserves an answer. Fortunately I think there is a good one. Perhaps this is the answer to existence and perhaps not. It does show however show that there are other possibilities that are more logical than gods. I only ask that before you simply dismiss it that you read the link posted below.

Personally I believe reality is ultimately mathematics (necessary logical truth) . It only looks like space and time because we see so little of it. Nothing is ever really created. The key here is a powerful selection effect (our existence ) which selects the portion of reality we find ourselves in. Only in very interesting portions (ones that appear as rapidly expanding space-time) of this vast infinite reality could we evolve.

Our understanding of reality is layered. You see the world in terms of large physical objects. But you are aware that those are illusions made up of atoms, and atoms in turn are made of smaller particles. Many believe that these so called "fundamental" particles are not fundamental but are built on a layer of mathematical objects called strings. My belief is that all reality including space-time itself is built upon mathematics and mathematics is what is truly fundamental.

The reason why we see top layers instead of lower layers is due to our inability to see all of the the details in the lower layers.

The reasons for my belief are way too involved to cover here so I will just post a link to something simple enough that you might understand it. I fear my actual reasons are likely to be well beyond your comprehension unless you have a very advanced gaduate physics background.

As mathematics ( necessary logical truth ) is fundamental and necessary it is not created. Existence simply equals necessary truth. Mathematics "just is" because it is necessary and tautologically simple ( Zero complexity ). But Mathematics does not create reality. Mathematics is reality.

The problem with the design hypothesis is your god needs to be more complex and hence more unlikely than the reality you are attempting to explain. Saying your god just is, still leaves a much bigger question than you had to begin with.

PS The big bang theory does work. It is however a model of the universe's expansion as described within the space-time layer, not a theory explaining origins.

When you understand that space-time is likely not fundamental but derived. Then you understand that there is no need to expain origins. The universe simply exists because what it is based on exists, the appearence of an origin ( and time itself) is illusary and a selection effect of how we perceive ourselves within reality.

One can assert the existence of god based on faith ( belief without evidence or reason) all you want. That doesn't make it any more credible.

I have no need for faith. If I can't base my beliefs on evidence or reason then there is no point in having those beliefs.

Does someone have to start decay? Many things decay on there own and nothing starts it. Many chemical reactions can take a long time to take place.

I do belive there is an esscene that willed the universe into existence by starting the big bang (Yggdrasil). However there is no certinty that the big bang required anyone to start it.

Part of faith is accepting that there is a possibility that you are wrong. Science is the same way. Yet so few people accept that it is a possiblity.

What do you mean when you said someone had to start the big bang why can't it start itself. There is an interesting theory that the big bang was started by more advanced race than us as an experiment and there are scientists looking in the background radiation for a possible message. Maybe this could reconcile religion and Science. God could just be someone with the capability of spawning universes. maybe even we could start off our own universes to see what happens.

It's likely that the big bang, if true, was just one in an endless occurrence of big bangs; past, present, future and concurrent. Atheistic people tend to deal in terms of infinity. Religious thinking tends towards beginnings and endings. At any rate, without the concept of infinity, I would say I don't understand existence and have no faith in the supernatural. I don't feel a pressing need to adopt an explanation.

listen 7, wait, is that your age? anyway, the big bang theory might not work for you, but it explains alot more than, God who has always existed created the universe and life and all the wonders that the mind can think of, i mean- come on, really.. you believe what you want, i'll tell you what, tie a 100lb weight to your legs, jump in a lake and as you sink, ask God to save you. you know what ask God why is there war, hate, chaos, pain, hunger and suffering, and why if he loved us, why would he allow that? don't give me that, God has a purpose for everything, if so, what would that make us, pawns, chess pieces?? i for one am sick and tried of hearing excuses for him, IF HE WERE REAL, IF HE LOVED US, HE WOULD HELP US AND STOP ALL THINGS EVIL.. and if it is still about the whole apple thing, tell him to get the hell over it, what we are suppose to forgive all the wrongs we have seen and have been done to us, but he wouldn't do it for us?? yeah nice...

LMFAO! Then someone MUST have made the someone who started the big bang, and you could go on forever saying that someone must have made this, someone must have made that.

Look, time is nothing but a dimension, like depth, width, and length. There need not be something before, and no you are not going to understand why.

If you want people to believe in a god then you need to give some sort of proof that a god exists. Some people are not going to just believe anything that they are told. They will require proof.

If you want to see the evidence that supports the Big Bang theory, then you will need to find an astrophysicist. Get that person to explain it to you.

If you give god the courtesy of just existing, and pre-existing anything material.

Then you can use the same "logic" or lack of it, to assume the big bang just came into existence.

God is not out of the realms of science, and if you put him there, then there is no point in having a scientific or logical discussion about him is there?

How do you KNOW that someONE had to "start the Big Bang"? Do you have a guaranteed "God-Free Universe" to compare it to, to show that No God=No Universe?

Plus, why wouldn't your God need a creator? You've just engaged in the logical fallacy known as "special pleading" -- something you should have been educated out of in high school....
