I went to a salon and it made no difference to my eyebrows really, they're still friggin thick. Seriously. How do I get eyebrows that compliment my face... I mean look at catherine zeta jones she has the perfect eyebrows... the problem is i dont know if her shape would fit me and all..

All the woman did was thread my eyebrow but it didn't have a definite shape or anything, just took some hairs out from bottom and the side so it looked clean

I am a beauty therapist and unless someone tells us what they really want we will only do a tidy up in the salon.
Threading is good but can be painful and you can thin out more, never have the hair above the brow removed.
In our salon we would use hot wax unless they said otherwise then just do a tidy up of hairs missed with tweezers.
To get the shape for your face the best way is to get a pencil and mark a line when you hold it from the outside corner of your nose up to the inside corner of your eye. Then hold the pencil from outside corner of nose on an angel to the outside corner of your eye, then look straight ahead and mark the outside edge of your iris -(this would mark your natural arch.)
Draw in the shape matching the lines lightly, tweeze anything under this line including all the light blonde ones.
Fashion is going for thinner brows at the moment but please don't go for just a thin line, it looks ridiculous and then very hard to grow out again afterwards.
If you wax this is quick although some therapists are qucik at tweezing.
If you continue to wax it will prematuraley age you around the eye area as you are continuosly stretching the skin in that area.
Ask for a consultation at a salon and say what you want, take some pictures in but a good therapist will tell you what suits your face shape.
Never have waxing or tweezing done when your period is due as you have a lower pain threshold.
Hope this is of some help.

You have to go to a really good place to have them done. Sometimes it is hard to do someone else's eyebrows because without doing too much you can really mess up how they look for a few weeks. I've also had friends get burnt by the wax and end up with blisters around their eyes. I've never let anyone else do mine. I use the cool wax or the sticky kind of hair remover which takes the bulk of the hair away and then pluck with tweezers the part that is left. If you pluck to clean up the extra hairs after using the wax, the area is a little numb already and the plucking is rather painless. You can buy those guides that you place over your eyebrow and white powder that you put on the hairs you want to keep (like a stencil). This is supposed to help you to get the right shape and arch but I think if you are careful it's probably easier to do it without the extra stencil. Good luck.

you can try going to a salon, but make sure its not just any random one. Check to see if they have a lot of customers and if they're busy. Tell them exactly the way you want it. Usually I would go with the original shape of your eyebrows and trim from there. Sometimes trying out different places will give you a better choice of how you want your eyebrows to be.

Pluck them yourself. Use imaginary lines (or a pencil) that go from the side of your nose to the inside corner of your eye. From the side of your nose to the outside corner of your eye. That gives you your start and stop place. Pluck what you don't want from your upper eye lid up, never from the top of your brow.

Tell them you want them shaped, and thinned out a little bit.
