Hillary Clinton promises to make health insurance mandatory for every American. Who's gonna pay for it? How can she force someone to buy health insurance?

Mark H - It will not be the same plan that government workers have. You will still have enormous deductibles, and high premiums. Insurance will not cover pre existing conditions, it wil not over eye care for those losing their eyesight, nor will it cover ear care for people who are deaf or going deaf. It is a joke to get more money for "low" income people. Middle class income (and that would be anyone who makes over $8.00 an hour) will be hurt the most.

She can't. If you have to choose between rent & food or health insurance guess which you're not going to buy.
In California there's a law that everyone has to have car insurance, yet we still have to insure against uninsured motorists.

Have you been to her website? I don't know who gave you your information but your belief on what her plan consists of is false and I am not even a Hillary supporter! However, being a licensed state insurance agent I understand the healthcare system and that it's broken and what she is trying to do. Your take on her plan is simply not correct. She is opening up the federal congressional plan to offer healthcare to those who have no access now...those with pre-ex medical conditions that would otherwise be denied by the commercial insurance companies or to those that need a better, more affordable plan than their employer offers. Or even to those who are self employed and have no other means for health care. IF YOU LIKE WHAT YOU HAVE YOU CAN KEEP IT. There is no forcing or fines for not taking it. You will have to pay for it IF you take it to a limited percentage. If you don't you would be eligible for a credit for what you do have. It will be a choice. What's better in your opinion, this: my sister was self employed, had no access to health coverage other than individual and was denied health coverage by the largest medical insurance carrier in this state due to stage 4 breast cancer and ended up wiping her kid's college funds out with her medical bills before she died at age 44? Is that better? Or how about the employer's that offer the HSAs that Mitt Romney talks about? Did you know these are high deductible plans that the employer does not have to help fund? I myself at the last employer I worked for had one of these so-called life saving HSA plans that had a $6,000 family deductible before any benefits were payable. Can most middle class families on paycheck to paycheck afford that? I will not be voting for Hillary but I can say that at least I know why I don't like Hillary and it's not based upon myth of her healthcare plans, it's based on facts. Get yours straight.

The same way she can force someone to pay taxes. Try not paying your taxes and see what happens. They'll garnish your wages and threaten to repossess your home if you don't pay.
Of course, I'm only speaking to the top 30 or 40% of Americans here. That's who's going to be paying Hillary's health insurance premiums. She's not going to ask the 'poor' and 'middle class' to pay. That wouldn't be liberal. So, folks like me are going to have to pay her way for her. And we won't have any choice in the matter. Ever again.

I really, really don't think any thinking person has to be "forced" to get health insurance. It's so expensive that many people simply can not afford it. Making it affordable is the goal.
A healthy society is to everyone's benefit. How to achieve it is the big question.
I haven't seen Hillary's plan, but it's clear that Republicans have none that doesn't sound like Marie Antoinette saying "let them eat cake."

Mrs. Clinton is a socialist. She wants to socialize health care. There would be no health insurance. The government would run the program, and you would have to pay for it with higher taxes.
Her idea is bad.

Sjean brings up a good point. Now we will have to pay for our insurance, help pay for others insurance and probably carry uninsured insurance for the ones that refuse to have insurance.

I want it. After seven years I am totally fed up with this brand of conservative (R). I have changed parties because people like Dick Cheney have convinced me they care nothing about America or ordinary Americans. We all paid for his routine surgery last month. So why can't the country afford government health care that works for the rest of America?

I sure don't want it and would have a huge problem if I were forced to. But Massachusetts is.
