Maltipoo is cute. But have you thought about rescuing a dog?

You maybe already guessed it from my name, but I would say beagles are my fav! :) I have two of them and I just love them to pieces. I love their personalities. I love how they tend to adopt parts of their owners' personalities because they seek to please and feel safer when they are closer to their pack. And I noticed several people on here saying how much they hate the barking/howling/baying that they do. I couldn't disagree more - I love it! I don't live anywhere where it would bother neighbors and it doesn't bother me. I think it's adorable and a unique sound that sets them apart. They are wonderful guard dogs. They love to cuddle. I couldn't have asked for more perfect babies! The only thing I do wish is that they had been better treated before I adopted them. They were abandoned as puppies and while I've worked hard to keep them healthy, they will always have weaker immune systems than most other dogs and they've also been prone to joint problems, which is common in beagles. I think it bothers ME more than it does THEM, though. LOL What do YOU think about hounds and beagles?

All dogs are cute. Do some research on breeds and narrow it down. Also, selecting a dog shouldn't be based solely on appearance. You have to know what you're getting into. Some dogs require more grooming than others. Some require more exercise.

Why does everyone think that someone else can help them pic out a dog? Cute? Only you can say what's cute to you.

I would urge you to go to your local shelter and adopt a rescue dog who will become the apple of your eye and your devoted confidant and friend.
But if you're really looking for a good medium sized dog - there are lots.
Boston terriers are great - have a natural smile, short hair, don't smell and a fun, energetic personality.
Smaller dobermans are great - smart, affectionate, again, short hair (minimal shedding).
Cocker spaniels are beautiful (Lady in Lady and the Tramp was a cartoonized version of a cocker). but they do shed and are often prone to ear/eye problems.
Schnauzers, Scottish terriers, Irish Terriers, high energy - but pretty and extremely fun-loving dogs.
Border collies - the most intelligent of dogs - are pretty, intelligent, easily groomed - but they require a job to do and need regular brushing. They're great for agility.
Gosh - every dog has its great points - and some off-sets as well.
Again, I urge you to try the shelter. Gain a friend! Save a life!

Medium I think like the 30-70 lbs range - so I recommend a boxer.

Also - you should also think about temperment and how much time you have to devote to a dog to help you make a decision. Some dogs are prone to certain behaviors and you want to make sure that you don't buy a dog that loves to dig; but you have no where for the dog to do so, etc.
Here is an article on how to choose a puppy:

It depends on what you mean by "medium sized." I recommend going to a shelter and talking about what you want in a dog.
Every breed is adorable to someone. I got my 40 lb. mutt girl in a shelter and have loved her every minute since then.
Here are some dogs and pictures:

if your going to be getting a dog
write down a list of characterisitics you are looking for such as exercise requirements, grooming, personality etc.
and take a breed selecting test :http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/search.htm
then check out www.petfinder.com type in your zip code and select medium as size and see whats for adoption
i have a very cute brittany spaniel that is medium size but he may not be right for everybody he needs 2 hrs+ of good exercise daily.

please consider adoption .

Shetland Shepherds, commonly called Shelties. Wonderful attitudes and to my eye one of the prettiest dogs around. My 5yo male is right at 30 pounds and just a bundle of happiness. They don't dig, only tear things up during teething and are one of the smartest breeds around (herding dogs have to learn upwards of 80 commands - that's a lot for a dog). Eager to please, easy to train, lovable....what's not to like?
And before I got this guy (long story) I was a big-dog guy - Great Danes, Rottweilers, etc. If you live in the N. Texas area I can turn you on to a great breeder.
