so, explain why its year 2007 and not year 2,000,000 whatever years? since you atheists think that the world is millions and billions of years old.
well my answer to why its 2007 is because when Jesus was born, thats when the years started. yes, there were atleast 2,000 years before Jesus was born (on earth) but not millions or billions of years
God bless!

Tell me you didn't ask this! You just gave the atheists fodder for their cannon. They're gonna turn this into a turkey shoot. I can't answer as I'm getting out of the line of fire.

Dude, I'm sorry, but this question stinks of ignorance towards evolution.
We didn't always have the intelligence or the "know" to create a calendar as that requires a bit of knowledge on astrology.
You might as well have asked why we didn't have fire for 89 trillion years. These are discoveries!
Much the same, we didn't have standardized time until 100 years ago, or so, where it was created in Canada.
We didn't have agriculture for 2 million years, either, as that was also a discovery in the evolution of our own society.
I'm not sure what this question is outside of ignorance towards another "Theory." No wonder many Christian's/Catholics don't believe in it - what they THINK it is isn't it (and thus, doesn't make sense). If you wrote a theory on evolution, it would be so wrong, I wouldn't believe it either

"2007" is a general reference from our Western culture. Different societies use different years (ie Chinese, etc). You just happen to live in a Western society.
Is "Zero degrees Celcius" the lowest possible temperature? No. It's a general reference point that was created to make things easier.
Keep in mind that once upon a time everybody KNEW that:
1) The Earth was flat
2) Apollo carried the Sun across the sky with his chariot.
3) Frogs spawned randomly from mud after rainstorms
4) Zeus threw lightning bolts from Mount Olympus
5) Human flight was obviously not possible
6) You got sick because you angered "this or that" God.
7) Sacraficing Virgins made crops grow better.
Yes, this Universe is billions upon billions of years old. And this is not the only universe that has ever existed or that will ever exist. We just can't see outside of it yet.

It's the year 2007 because early Christian civilization decided to begin the calender with the best available estimate of the birth of Christ. Scientists had nothing to do with it. Nothing like science happened until the late sixteenth century.
Do you have even the slightest idea how ignorant you sound to people who actually understand science, people who KNOW the earth was formed 4.66 billion years ago? There are many, many good solid physical reasons why scientists can truthfully make this claim. What have you got to back your position? Just the Bible -- literally proof of nothing. If you were to confine your public opinions to strictly religious issues, you wouldn't make nearly the fool of yourself that you do when you can only pretend to know what you're talking about. Leave the science to real scientists and save yourself the embarrassment of exposing your ignorance in public.

Sweetie, go to school, read a good science book, take some classes... because you're making yourself look kinda silly.
Men developed the calendar. They picked a year to start it and because it was developed in an era when people were FORCED to believe in god or face death, they used Jesus's birth as the starting point. Rulers and the church made sure that everything conformed to religion in order to control people. Threaten people with damnation if they don't obey and they'll do it (it worked with you, didn't it?).
Science has proven the age of the earth to within a few million years. Considering the age of the earth is BILLIONS, a few million years is like seconds is to a day.
I prefer to use C.E. (Common Era) rather than A.D. and B.C.E. (Before the Common Era) rather than B.C. It is more and more common now to use these rather than A.D. and B.C. in many books and journals now.

Wow. Okay, I'm going to take pity on your because you're so brainwashed and not call you names.
The earth has existed for a lot longer, but the calendar only started when human civilizations came into play. Humans are the only beings that needed dates, so they came up with the concept of time.
edit: Why would I trust a science book?
Because everything in it is based on facts that have been proven time and time again. The buy-bull is a book written by a bunch of guys who hallucinated because of all the hash they did.

That's funny .You're making this proclamation less than a week after the Jews observed Rosh Hashanah and welcomed in the New Year of 5768

Child with bad manners:
I am old enough to have spent well over 100 days solo backpacking in the Grand Canyon without my moomy and daddy there to hold my hand .
I am smart enough not to be blinded by the light of religion that prevents me from seeing the truth of the Canyon.
I am humble enough to be in awe when I see the tracks left by an animal that lived and died over 500,000,000 years ago.
Hold a trilobite fossil your hand ,if you can open your mind wide enough to attempt to comprehend it's true age ,you may have just taken a positive step towards growing up.

I'm not certain if this is a joke, or if it's intentional, but please stop and think about this: do you realize how you are making the Christians look? Not all of them are so... obtuse (that's the nicest word I can think of).
By your logic, if you call the 2nd planet Venus (or any other planet) you believe in paganism? If you refer to stage lighting (or celebrity attention of any sort) as limelight, does that mean you still believe lights use limestone, as they did in the pre-electric age?
Names and definitions outlive their original usage.
Even the 2007 calender is based upon arbitrary guesses created 15 centuries ago. In our year 500, no one called it 500 AD (or CE) - that number system had not been developed. They called it 1251 - as measured since Rome was (apparently) founded.

The current calendar was written to start that way. It's just not very convenient for me to ignore the calendar that the entire world uses (including Muslims, Hindus, etc).
Fact is, the start of a calendar is arbitrary. There is the Julian and the Gregorian calendars, plus the Aztecs kept a calendar as well (and there's was far more accurate than other calendar since).
Short answer: convenience.

If Christ was born in 1 AD, the Bible is inaccurate because Herod the Great was already dead. An arbitrary number was selected based on erroneous information. It is 2007, since the Catholic Church adopted the date, it became the system in Europe, and since Europe and its former colonies dominate world commerce, it has been adopted worldwide.

Even if evolution is false and the Creation story is true, 2007 STILL contradicts the current year of the Earth! If you remembered your bible correctly, life started with Adam and Eve, not with Jesus, therefor, the year should still be a larger number than 2007.
