I have never been on a cruise before but I would like to go on a 5 day cruise after summer next year (so I can have time to save $) I have heard Cayman Islands were beautiful. Anyone know if this is true? Also, in your experience what was the best time of year to go so that the prices aren't ridiculous but yet the weather is warm enough to swim in the ocean. One more thing...what's the best cruise line? Thanks for answering.

I love Grand Cayman. The best time of year is probably January through April. The excursion where you get to swim with the stingrays is a day I will remember fondly the rest of my life. I think that most veteran cruisers are suprisingly not brand loyal when it comes to which cruiseline. They look for the best value for the itinerary they want. Most people who put down a cruiseline have actually never been on that line. Go to vacationstogo.com and click on find a bargain. Put in that you want to visit the port of Grand Cayman and any other criteria you need. I would suggest 2 things. Click on 4 1/2 stars or better and take the longest cruise you can afford. The shorter the cruise the more party atmosphere you get and lots more kids. Both of which can be disruptive.

The cruise lines that you should look at are Carnival, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, Princess and Celebrity. I have been on the latter four several times at least and recommend all of them. I have never been on Carnival but it is the "party" boat and you may like it, plus it is the budget cruise line.

The best time to go is outside the hurricane season which runs from June to October. We were in the Caymans on a cruise last November and the water on 7-mile beach was fine. It will probably be the same in Dec, Jan and Feb and will for sure be warm enough in the spring and summer.

You will get the best price if you book early and right now is not too early for next year, even next Fall. The cruise lines have their cruises listed for 2007 and 2008, some even 2009. All of the lines give "early booking discounts" and many also have "specials" that will be listed on their web sites.

Just go to the cruise line web sites and put in the "WESTERN CARIBBEAN" as your destination and the cruises that include the Caymans will pop up. You know that you will get just one day there, usually all day from about 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

You can swim in the Caribbean anytime of year as temps range between 75-90 year round. Swimming with the Stingrays is a great experience.

There are not many cruises of just 5 days that get to Grand Cayman.

Pricing depends on type of accomodation - interior, oceanview or balcony and above (suites) as well as cruise line. Use a cruise specialist who can get you the best value for your money as well as the expertise you need as a "first timer" so you have a great trip.

I went last year on my honeymoon on Sept. 1st the weather was great loved it. Oh I went with Princess Cruises which I thought it was the BEST! but if you can try to go b4 Sept (hurricane season) we where lucky that we did not have any around by the time we left.
