My friend has one and she wanted to know. The car didnt have a manual and the one she ordered is being mailed out now.
My guess is that the Maxima is not made for smokers!

You have to order a smokers kit for most Nissan Cars these days. The surgeon general has stated smoke even second hand smoke is bad. Some are cup holder ashtrays with lids and a cigarette lighter to go into a specific power socket. And some kits have an actual ash tray and power socket replacement. And besides at over $550 a pack how can anyone afford to smoke anyway!

Most cars today don't have either unless you pay extra for a "smokers package" I have a Nissan and a Honda - both have a nice felt lined storage bin where the ashtray would be, and a standard power plug where the lighter would be.
Just tell you friend to wise up and quit - or if they don't want to quit tell them not to stink up the nice leather interior of their Maxima, at least not smoke in the car.

It's rather the car is not made for smokers :) :) - as you said - or the car has the cigarette lighter and ashtray as optional package (extra features that have to be bought separately) when buying the car.

so your cig lighter is inop? and also your iPod won't charge when using cig lighter port? You most likely have a blown fuse check fuse and see what you find. good luck
