I have 2 natural eared Dobermans that people think are either Rottweilers or a mix because their ears aren't standing up. I am amazed at how many people don't know that Dobies aren't born that way.
Oh, and I have a Boxer that people have asked if it's a Pitbull. How they get Pitbull from Boxer, I don't know.

Well, the greyhounds usually get mistaken for whippets, but I have heard one mom telling her little girl to look at the 3 great danes!
I was always being told that my bearded collie was an old english sheepdog. I never minded people asking what he was because they're not all that common, but it's beyond annoying to be TOLD he's a different breed.
The afghans were never, ever mistaken for anything else because there's no other breed even remotely like them!

I have a mutt. We think he is a Shepherd/ Whippet mix. He's a good-looking dog who attracts a lot of admirers on the street, all of whom agree see the Shepherd part... but speculate that he might be part Lab (he's not - no webbed feet, and no stop on his head), or Great Dane (because he's so tall and gangly). I'm interested in hearing what people have to say though. It's fun.

The Siberians -- "Is that a wolf?"; "Is that an Alaskan Malamute?"; Someone asked me the other day if my dog was an Akita, too.
The Dachsunds (Standard Longhaired) -- "Is that a Corgi mix?"; even funnier..."Is that an Irish Setter mix?" (??!!); and, of course, "I know that's got Dachshund in it, but what breed gave it the long fur?"

I have 2 french bulldogs, one is cream and the other is black brindle, and we always get, "Oh, look at the Pugs!!", or some even think they are Boston terriers and ask how I got those colors in that breed...No one to this day has gotten it right, and half have never even heard of the breed when we correct them.

Grr- I have had two people (one who had a min-pin) tell me that my dog must be part 'miniature doberman' - I keep trying to explain there is no such thing and they look at me like I'M the moron. (it's a miniature pinscher not a minature doberman pinscher).
I also get told he is mostly beagle- though some of our beagle breeders have told me no way.
I get told he is a black and tan coonhound (the males are like 90-130lb- my dog is 24lb fully grown)
A bloodhound (again like 100lb)
A rotweiller
A doberman

I may not know WHAT he is a mix of but I can be pretty sure he's not some 100lb dog.
I also have everyone tell me what a cute puppy he is and ask me how big he will get- no one guesses he is fully grown at 24lb.

Bernese Mountain Dog: Mixed breed, Aussie, Saint Bernard, Newfoundland... oh... and "long coated Rottie"
Samoyed: White Chow, Husky, Wolf-mix, white Shepherd, Akita
I also have people who ask if they are "Samoan"... and I just want to laugh because I get this image of an islander.... grass skirt... etc... or the Girl Scout cookies.

I have an APBT and he has natural ears so people think he is a boxer mix......he's red with white on his chest........one person ask me if he was a ridgeback mix........he's not a short wide dog but the "old school" APBT.....so because he doesnt look like the typical "pit bull" image everyone thinks he something else
