Seriously! I dropped it on the concrete garage floor last night. Top is all dented & I truly don't want to waist it...

Yet, I don't want it to explode all over me...
How long you're supposed to wait for the "fizz" to settle down inside.
(Oh, I know this can probably is good... but wanting to know for future!)
You'd think a 38 year old female would know this! I just can't for the life of me, remember how long!!!

i bet you dont know they have a new liner in the cans that if the can get shook up it will not spray all over if opened in about 30 seconds. the new liners some how calms the over fizzing that use to happen when a can was shook up. ... i all the time take a can of soda and shake it as hard as i can for about 10-15 seconds and set it down for 30 seconds and open it up and drink it. people are amazed!!!!. but they dont know about the new liner they put into the cans a few years back............the can being dented in will create more pressure inside the can.this may cause some to spay out no matter how long you wait. open it as slow as you can outside and away from you. when the released perssure leaves the can you can drink whats left.the size of the dent matters a lot usually the dent isnt enough to cause a lot to spray out. usualy my luck i get a hole when i drop the can and have more than half of it spay out the little hole before i can pick it up. and i have to chase it too because the jet of soda from the can propells the can away from me. its not a good day chasing my last can of soda down the street.u were lucky .. the tapping on the top of the can does nothing!!!!!!!!!!! its like pushing the button more for the elevator.

20 seconds is all it takes.

You can shake the living crap out of a can of soda and it will be fine in 20 seconds.

Knowing this can enable you to make people very nervous.

All I have ever did is to flip the top and bottom of the can with your fingernail. You can open it right up. It will not fly all over you.

I think if it was last night it should be okay by now.

Tap the top for a minute just to be safe.

Its fine. Tap the lid a couple times with your fingernail to be safe. I open them pretty soon after....the fingernail thing does the trick.

It's fine. 5-10 minutes is all it takes.

But the finger tapping thing doesn't do a thing. I think Mythbusters tried it and proved it wrong.
