The big pool party I just threw my 7yr old 2 weeks ago was her last big party for a long time. Mainly because I want to take her to Disney World for her "big 10" and I figure I will need to save the money from these next 3 b-days to be able to do it! After her 10th she will only get big parties on 16th and 18th.

Other than on their first birthdays, I've never had big parties. We just have a few close friends over for dinner, cake and presents. The kids seem fine with that. They've honestly never ask for birthday parties.

That sounds like a great idea. You don't have to worry too much about another big party until your daughter turns 16....

I quit giving big parties out of grade school. After that they either had a few girls (4 or so) spend the night or one girl over to do something special of their choice ( concert, play etc)and dinnerand usually that gorl spent the night. It was always fun.

Eleven when they moved on from primary school and there wasn't a round of such in their classes.Mind you my third didn't want one after about eight so I respected that but we always had a small Family one right until they were teenagers and *all* of them were expected to be home for that because I put Family first and taught them to too.I always baked them a cake too no matter how busy that I was and didn't buy them like so many do these days.
