Someone posted a question asking what a bible verse meant, and my reply was something along the lines of "who knows, the bible passages are so messed up and twisted"
I got a violation for stating my opinion?

I got one for just giving information on where to find information as well as stating I was unable to get onto a site the asker had posted! Go figure! I told them they had better review it again because someone (if not me) might sue for having their (my) freedom of speech stomped on!

Why would you respond about the meaning of a Bible verse if you DON'T understand the Bible? The question was obviously posted for someone to explain what the verse is taking about. Lots of people could reply that they don't understand it.

But maybe it was the way you bashed the Bible. Since many people can clearly understand the Bible, perhaps you offended someone by your point of view. But I wouldn't report you, though.

Well technically you didn't answer the question. You gave an unasked-for opinion, of what you thought about the Bible in general, not what the actual verse meant.

It's no different then me getting a violation for saying *drink*

* Anybody can report any question or answer.
* There is no penalty for misreporting
* Yahoo staff has about 4 seconds to figure out if any complaint has merit
* Too many violations and your email account gets deleted.

Conclusion: We're all idiots for posting here.

You just have to be really careful with what you say and how you say it. Try not to offend anyone. I don't think that what you said sounds offensive to me, but obviously did to someone else. I am a Christian I have been reported a few times myself for saying things that seem completely harmless. So in reality it goes both ways OK. Take care.

When people do not agree with your answer that report it and YA violates you. No big deal...just know there are a lot of sensitive people on here.

It might be because of your choice of language. If you believe that the Bible is messed up and twisted, there probably is a way to say that without being so "in your face" and offensive.

Even if you don't believe it, there are millions of people worldwide to whom the Bible is sacred text, and insulting it the way you did would be offensive to them. I found your comments rude, myself.

I don't believe the Koran, but I don't insult it nor the intelligence of its adherents. There is a more educated and civil way to discuss these things.

It could be that your opinion was misread by someone who is a devout Christian. Any slur against the Holy Bible is taken seriously and your opinion could be considered a slur.

I get violations constantly. Get used to it. You expressed your opinion, but you expressed it as a fact. If you would have said "Who knows. I think..." then you would be able to appeal your violation.

By the way, I disagree with your opinion.

Becuase that answer is not informative or helpful. People come here to interact and get information and look deeper into the Bible and Gods Word to get a better understanding. People who give answers like that, are only here to waste time, and express a meaningless opinion. If it was a thoughtful answer, of what you think the verse could mean, or if it was "twisted" what it, in your opinion, might have been, that would be a better answer.
