I think that a cleric at that level reads it in Latin.

When a family member died, a co-worker
gave me a beautiful Bible in a wooden case;
it was a "Catholic Bible". Its their own Bible, but wow you should see the crazy
re-writes in it - they just printed whatever their own interpretations are of a verse in place of the particular verse. Its creepy.
Anyway, if they have their own Bible, wouldn't that be what the Pope uses?
I know that in my family's Catholic Church you can't find one single Bible of any kind
up at the pulpit or the Alter. Thats creepy, too. I changed from Catholic to non-denominational Christian because I was not
going to continue to do things that are un-biblical - if I'm gonna adopt false doctrine, I may as well just not be religious at all - just
dump it all and do whatever the hell I want,
and forget religion.
I can tell you this: the hell if I'm gonna worship some man in the Vatican; its dispicable that thousands of people flock to see him and when he speaks, they grab onto every word that comes out of his mouth, and yet they are so Biblically illiterate that you can barely have an intelligent conversation with one of
them; apparently what the Pope says is far more important than what the Word of God has to say - and before I get a zillion thumbs-downs, I was brought up Catholic: School, Church, Sunday School - so I am not talking about something I have no knowledge of.

Please give me a break the bible is read every day in the Catholic Church out loud to all who attend mass apparently the person who wrote this was never in a catholic Church to have said such tripe. In fact more bible is read in a catholic Church than any other church.OH yea we don't worship the Pope or any one else but Jesus what do you think the mass is about. Pope Benedict XVI, in addition to his native German, fluently speaks Italian, French, English, Spanish and Latin, and has a knowledge of Portuguese.
He can read the Bible in the original ancient Greek and biblical Hebrew. http://www.usccb.org/comm/popebenedictxvi/benedictfacts.shtml
With love in Christ.

The "pope" is an antichrist, is not saved, and is not Christian. There is no "pope" in the Bible. He serves a false gospel, and catholics are not saved Christians.

As the leader of the Catholic faith he should be referring to the original manuscripts in their original languages (ancient Greek and Hebrew, mostly). If he isn't he's doing his supplicants a disservice.

He doesn't need it, he has divine authority to pronounce what things mean.
