No they are really not the same. Mini-brides and grooms are miniture Bride and Groom. They can wear a dress as a flower girl, but they do not throw flowers. But they can be the same age or younger. It's more for show, especially if you have kids you want to be in the wedding, and dont' know where to put them. Sometimes mini-brides are called princess, and in a lil carrage or wheel barrow and being pulled by the mini-groom if possible, or they walk down the aisle together. My lil bro was a mini-groom yeaaaaaaaaars ago and walk down togheter. The mini bride doesn't have to wear a veil at all. It's a cultural thing. A lot of Jamaicans, Hispanics and Romanians do it. I think there's other cultures too.

Flower girls, ring bearers, mini brides/grooms - are all nice ways to integrate children into a wedding ceremony.

They can be one in the same - or if you have lots of children in your family - you can divvy up the duties.

Be careful of asking very very young children to be ring-bearers and flower girls however - they can freak out and really cause disruptions in the ceremony.

I'd say, age 4 - 8 is about right for flower girl/ring bearer.

For minibrides/grooms - 8 - 10 is good

Jr. bridesmaids/ushers - 10 -15

16 and up - bridesmaids/ushers proper.

But it's really up to you. I attended a wedding where the bride's grandmother - in her 80's mind you - was the flower girl. And how many weddings have we been to where the bride's 8 year old son walked her down the aisle and "gave her away?" Loads.

It is kind of weird to me that the mini-bride wears the same dress as the bride. Something creepy about that.
