Everyday I drive a 2005 Saturn Vue 4cyl/ 5speed Lipstick Red.
For the rest of the time: I have a 1932 cabriolet w/ Pontiac 455/4speed also lipstick red.
The Saturn is easy to drive and cheap to maintain.
The Cabrio is Hot and Fast, turns heads, expensive to buy and maintain....

For in town, you have to go with a VW beetle. Those are great! For out of town, try the Honda CRV. They are good on gas, very versital and WAY CUTE!
