My wife gets migraines that cause her to throw up.... She takes Excedrin Migraine and lays down in complete darkness and silence.

It usually works.... the key is to take the Excedrin as soon as you suspect the headache coming on. If that doesn't answer it, then let your doctor get you something stronger to take.

You may have to go see a doctor. I have migrane's every once in a long while, but I know what you mean about the pain and throwing up. The doctor's will prescribe a much stronger pain reliever like Tylenol 4 and that should make the pain go away.

Alot of times the headaches can be caused by stress or a bad diet. But I would really recommend going to see your doctor to have youself checked out.

Hope you feel better.

A common symptom of a migrane is vomiting, as well as sensitivity to light. One thing to do is find out what is causing the migrane. Stress? Tension? Allergy? Perhaps something triggered it? I get migranes when I cry, which is a result of dehydration. I also get migranes occasionally at other times, so when ibruprofen doesn't work (I take 400 mg for it), the doctor prescribed a medication called Relpax (it's expensive, like 4 or 5 dollars a pill).

If it is migraine, throwing up is a common accompaniment. When I had the problem, it struck me every weekend. A doctor said the weekend migraine was a common complaint and he prescribed Cafergot to be taken as soon as the symptoms began. I took the Cafergot as directed and it worked. As a result of the medication, however, I began to notice the development of small, red, spider veins in my face which, as a vain female, I could not tolerate. I began thinking of an alternative and the name "Cafergot" came to mind. As a one-time medical transcriber, I realized that the name was made up of two ingredients, caffeine and ergot. I decided to try my own treatment and, in the following weekend as I lay helpless from the pain I asked my husband to make a pot of coffee - which we seldom used at home. After drinking a couple of cups of coffee the relief began and within an hour my headache was gone and my head was clear. The cure was caffeine: the cause was caffeine withdrawal since, at work, I drank several cups a day. The weekend being caffeine free, my body was demanding its "fix". Caffeine addicts are familiar with the effect, I'm sure.

I don't know if what I get are migraines, but I get really bad headaches and if I so much as try to lie down my head feels like it is going to break open like a dropped egg. I usually try to stop it from getting that bad by using an icepack (it kinda numbs it) and taking Excedrin for Migraines, and reclining back a bit, but not laying down all the way. I would say, that if you get them often, you should see a doctor and ask about one of the prescriptions for migraines.

If you can, see a neurologist. I get really bad migraines and always threw up because the pain is so severe, It is so intense I agree that words cannot describe it. I always ended up in the E.R. because the pain was incredible. I use Fioricet and it works awesome. No more throwing up and also got a drug for the migraines themselves, between the 2 I no longer go to the e.r. and I can manage them.
See a neurologist if Excedrin migraine (over the counter)doesn't work

There is no medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.
Acidity, WORRY, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation;
Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy are their causes. None of them can be treated with medicine. Our 100% success in treating migraine &H/A confirms it.
Acupuncture is the best treatment. I can treat it with naturopathy and YOG, but how can you manage pl see.

Avoid late sleeping if possible;spicy, sour, stale bakery foods and alcohole.
Sweet foods, COCOANUT WATER,sweet fruits, milk, rice, SPROUTS, SALADS and good sleep will help you.
But you try one herbal remedy- two drops of drumstick leaves' juice in opposite nostril if one side pains and both nostrils if full H/A will give you rescue. Betel leaf helps but it isvery strong.
If it is acute pl search a painful point 3-6 mm behind your thumb nail and press it, H/A will disappear within 30 seconds.

Learn to recognize the signs before you get hit with it. Most migraine sufferers have symptoms hours before it really gets bad. If you take a migraine medication before it hits, it will be more effective than waiting until you're throwing up... Excedrin Migraine works for me, but my Dad has to use prescription stuff.

Talk to your doctor and ask for an Rx for Imitrex (or something similar) to have on hand in case you experience another one. This medication is a wonder drug for migraine sufferers. It does not cause drowsiness - just gets rid of the headache and nausea in about 20 minutes. I highly recommend it.

Best of luck!

Were you involved in some sort of physical activity where you may have bumped your head? Sounds like the symptoms of a concussion.

You probably need a CAT scan. See a doctor.
