Last week, I called out that Bowyer was the sleeper, and I am not saying I told you so, but to all those who criticized me, on the basis that Bowyer was not a threat because he had no regular season wins, I hope you now understand why I picked him to be the major upset this year. To understand why, you must first understand Clint Bowyer, and his ability to focus under pressure in his racing days pre-NASCAR.

To all, again thanks for your opinions, I like reading this stuff, Fluffy, it would not have mattered where Kennseth or anyone else qualified for that matter, Bowyer had the most CONSISTANT and FAST laps all day, and with the COT, it is going to be all about consistancy. To make it clear, I am not a Bowyer fan, I am an Earnhardt fan, but I have watched Bowyer, for several years now, you will see the kids talent in the weeks to come, and not necessarily the talent to drive, but the talent to drive when it is all on the line, that is the difference, yeah he got nervous, but hey Steward and Gordon and all those guys went through the same thing...you dont believe it, go read their interviews, if you have never raced, then you will never understand how it feels with 20 to go, and your all alone, seconds ahead, it is worse than being 4 wide heading into a corner.

I really like Clint and have him on my fantasy team but he WILL NOT win the Nextel Cup Championship this year. Everyone jumps on the bandwagon when a driver wins. Jamie McMurray, Martin Truex Jr and whoever else is the flavor of the week. I'm happy he won and he's very deserving but RCR is way too inconsistent and only has 3 wins between all 3 drivers. They are the class of the field one week and back in the 20s the next. Look at how Jeff and Kevin ran yesterday. He will be a contender for years but Richard needs to work a little harder on his research and development before ANY driver over there will have a shot at the championship. Clint has the lowest average finish, combined, in the 9 races that are left in the chase and I don't see him finishing in the top 5, sorry.

He had a great race yesterday, and will probably post a few more Top-5's and Top-10's w/ nine races to go in the CHASE. But to consider him having a legitimate shot @ the Nextel Cup title @ Homestead?!?! I don't know. Not sayin' he can't do it, because he has shown that he can drive the wheels off of that #07 JD Chevy, but I don't know if he can be MORE consistent than some of the other guys in the top-12. I predicted him to finish 8th overall come season end, and I stick to that. Bowyer has a bright, bright future ahead of him, but I don't see him gettin' a CUP title this season.

He definitely proved he is in the chase for real, now if he wins another race here in the next couple races, he won't be a sleeper but a real threat. Hey, I'm glad he is doing great.. Not sure if he can still win the cup, but he is somebody to watch.. Go get 'um Bowyer..

I never thought of Bowyer as a sleeper. I watched him in the Busch series and decided that he would eventuall be one of the greats. This season has been, for him, similar to Kasey Kahne's 2005 season--it wasn't a matter of if he would win, but when he would win. After Stewart retires, Clint Boywer will most likely become my favorite driver.

If Bowyer stays consistant with top 10's he'll be a real threat to win the championship.

Martin Truex is the sleeper. In fact he's gonna be giving you nightmares. Clint Bowyer aint that hot. Gordon and Stewart probably thought they were seeing a mirage when Bowyer was in front of them. They never seen the back of his car. I do think it's totally cool that Bowyer won the first race, it just sets the standard of competition. I can't beleive Kenseth moved up as far as he did. If Kenseth would've qualified better he would've toasted Bowyer, and if it would've been a 500 mile race, it would have been a whole different scenario. Even my buddy Ryan Newman was running up in front. It was a rather different race. But racing only 300 miles you don't get much competition. It was funny (cool) to see Bowyer go to winners circle without his car, because he used up all his fuel (or maybe over-revved his engine) doing burnouts. Bowyer winning just sets the stage for the competition. But yeah dude, I disagree about Bowyer being a sleeper.

Yesterday took him from sleeper to contender. He's 4th in the points now. Kurt Busch was a sleeper in 2004 and went on to win the Nextel Cup, so Bowyer could win it all if he gets hot.

I've always believed in Clint Bowyer and the 07 team. Clint is a great driver and i knew it was a just matter of time before he got his first win. He couldn't have picked a better time for it!!!! I have faith in all 3 RCR drivers. I know that all three RCR drivers are long shots by everyone's opinion, but not mine, they are all great drivers and will all be contenders for the Championship!!!

Go RCR!!!
Go Jeff Burton!!!

He is ready to win. But as nervous as he was yesterday in the last 30 laps I think he will cause himself to make a mistake that leaves him short of winning the championship. I do think he is a great driver though. And anything is possible in NASCAR.

Bowyer,Hamlin, and Truex all could be called sleepers.
But all of them are making noise in the chase.
