The duvet set I found looks like a comforter in the picture, but I heard a duvet is like a sheet. If this is true Idont know if it will be thick enough. Which is better quality a comforter or duvet? I would really appreciate any advice. I dont want to order this if it is a thin piece of material like a sheet?

Douvet is better. It goes over the comforter or thick blanket (like a down blanket) and can easily be removed for washing. Comforters are annoying to wash and can get lumpy. Hope I could help. :)

(And I don't mean to seem...mean, but all the people above me are pretty much wrong. It's not a blanket or a sheet, it's a cover FOR a blanket. Usually a nice one that can't be washed, ie. a down comforter.)

Usually a duvet goes over a what looks like a plain comforter but I have used them when redecorating a room by just covering my original comforter if it is still in good shape and not worn. The duvet usually has buttons across the top where you can slide a comforter in. This way if it getss dirty all you have to do is take the duvet cover off and wash or have it dry cleaned. But either way it is a lot less bulky than having to do a whole comforter.

A duvet is a cover (in the form of a bag) used to cover or enclose a comforter, usually a down comforter. This provides protection for the comforter and adds color and style to the room. Duvets come in varying thickness, from about a 180 thread count (the thread grading for sheets); in the less expensive ones; to much thicker in the more expensive ones. The heavier thread counts better prevent the down/ feathers from poking through. Duvets are also less expensive to clean than comforters; which also saves cost in that area; and also prolong the life of your comforter. As you stated, duvet sets generally come with shams to match.

A goose/feather down comforter, usually goes into a Duvet. This way you can take the duvet off and wash it, but leave the down comforter out so it's not ruined.

These are great. We have a duvet on our master bed and guest bed. In the summer, we take the down comforter out, and in the winter put it back so we have that extra layer of warmth on cold nights.

initially a cover advance right into a huge bag crammed with goose feathers. the better high quality ones have been crammed with Down, the finer feathers of a duck. right this moment maximum Duvets are crammed with man made fibers and carry a TOG score, the better the extensive variety the extra suitable insulation. A cover set may well be purely a disguise for the canopy and a pillow case.

A duvet is like a comforter. They sell duvet covers as well (which is a sheet for the comforter so you can protect it)

A duvet is a sheet with two sides which goes over a quilt! Used alone, it has the weight of two sheets - thats it! No warmth at all.

a duvet is actually a bag that you put the comforter in to keep the comforter clean...theory being that you can wash the duvet, but you can't wash the comforter...
