The duvet set I found looks like a comforter in the picture, but I heard a duvet is like a sheet. If this is true Idont know if it will be thick enough. Which is better quality a comforter or duvet? I would really appreciate any advice. I dont want to order this if it is a thin piece of material like a sheet?

All above are correct.
A duvet can be made of two sheets, with an opening at the bottom end usually to put in a comforter.
It is better than a comforter because usually you can take it off and wash it, depends on the fabric if you can wash it or not.
You can use or buy any type of comforter to put inside as long as it has the same dimensions as the duvet. A little short is OK. If one side is too long you can cut it to size and hand hem it since it will be covered up by the duvet.
A duvet is a great way to keep using a good comforter which has stains, or one that you are just plain tired of looking at it.
If the comforter slips inside the duvet you can grab two of the bottom of the bed corners, align the corners of the duvet and comforter and shake them. Kind of like fluffing up a pillow.
Ideally the duvet is wider than the comforter by 2x or 3x the thickness of the comforter so that the comforter is not bulging out the edges. The duvet should hang nicely, straight and loose around the edges of the bed.
A duvet is a great way to change the look of a room in a hurry without spending much money. Of course you can pay thousands for a duvet made in Italy etc. but I make them myself all the time for myself and for gifts.

initially a cover replaced right into a huge bag crammed with goose feathers. the better high quality ones have been crammed with Down, the finer feathers of a duck. in the present day maximum Duvets are crammed with man made fibers and carry a TOG score, the better the selection the extra constructive insulation. A cover set could be purely a hide for the canopy and a pillow case.

A duvet is a cover for your quilt or comforter. You can put it on and take it off like a pillow case.
