Yep, air strikes alone will take the whole country out. We have the technology.

Greetings. air strikes alone have never won a war. we bombed Germany day and night for years, destroyed entire civilian populated cities and yet the German production capacity actually was greater at the end of the war then at the beginning. During the war we dropped more tonnage of bombs on civilians in Germany daily, then Germany dropped on England in the entire war. Air strikes can make things better by giving a big body count. just don't notice that most of those they kill are civilians. Military installations are hidden, protected and guarded. women and children on the streets are not. During bombing missions more civilians are killed then military, always goes that way. Air will be enough to start the war. Or if the strikes are nuclear and Russia backs up its threat to use nukes on us if we start using them on humans again like we did in World War 2, then maybe the air strikes will be enough to enable Gabrial to sound his horn and signal the end of human life on earth.

I don't think there's ever been a recorded instance of air-strikes ALONE being enough to win a war. However, we could certainly blast Iran back to the stone-age and flatten the whole of the country if we were to just keep on pouring bombs into it for long enough. (But that's typically frowned upon because we try NOT to destroy entire cities & industrial centers anymore)

Yes it could destroy the manufacturing base for the program but the program itself is knowledge which would remain and means the program could be restarted but in the short term yes. Second thing to remember is that the retaliation and use of ground forces to the air attacks would not be controllable by air power alone.

Well, I'd really like to think so... it would be really nice. I'd like to see that lunatic's chances of getting his hands on nukes and fulfilling his threat of wiping Israel off the face of the map thwarted quickly and efficiently without loss of American lives.

However, as previously stated, there are significant air defenses in place and short of merely turning Iran into a sheet of nuclear-bomb-created-glass... there would be necessity of ground forces taking out key installations.
Another viable option is using covert operatives to sabotage the program... either by offering rewards to workers there or sending in our secret agent men.
Either way... this issue will have to be dealt with before there is a repeat of Hitler's aggression. If you read your history, you'll see that Hitler stated bluntly what he wanted a few times and then took it when no one took him seriously. After he took it, there was an appeasement policy and he was allowed to get his forces rooted in the occupied nations...
as Fred Thompson said... sometimes when a lunatic makes a threat, he means it.
If they are allowed to get nukes, they'll use them. First on Israel, then on us... either directly or by proxy.

They can destroy the program pretty well, but its pretty scattered. But bombing irans program right now would galvinize the publics opinion of Irans leaders. Best to try to fuel rebellion in Iran and just keep the bombers ready.

No.

Iran has a very well laid out air defense system (mostly russian) and has built many of its sites in hardened underground bunkers.

So unless you are thinking of tactical nukes, air strikes are not going to eliminate Iranian Nuclear Program, they can just push it back.

You may not have to directly. You could take out the electric grid that powers them, the water supplies that water the scientists there, their one gasoline refinery, their communications system, roads leading up to them, set a pipeline or two on fire. Keep them pre-occupied with restoring their infrastructure.
