I'm 17 and I had an interview at a clothing store on 9/13/07.
The interview went really well and the interviewer said she really liked me and that she would definitely call me back.
When should she call me back?
If she doesn't, should I call her?
I really want this job and I am getting kinda nervous that I'm not gonna get it.

The manager did say she would check my references.
I talked to one of my references and she said she had not recieved a phone call.
Is this a bad thing?

It is a good way of showing that you are interested in the job.
Yes it is OK. Say something like this: "Hi, My name is so and so and I talk to the Manager about an opening last week - I would like to follow up my interview with her/him."

Then, ask if you are not hired: "Would you be interviewing for other position in the near future? I really would love to be a member of your organization."

The reason for this is if someone quit, you could be the next good candidate for the job, then thank the person you talked to.

The general rule of thumb is to wait one week after the interview to follow up. For future reference their is nothing wrong as the interview is wrapping up to ask when the manager expects to make a decision.

When you call just say HI this is ..... I really enjoyed meeting with you last week and would like to follow up with you. Don't ask if you have the job, don't ask if they hired anyone use the words follow up. You can usally judge by the tone of their voice if they are being genuine and they really have not made a decsion or they are dancing around the question

Did the manager say they would check your references or run a background check?

I agree you should call back, but most interviewers prefer you wait a week before you do. A call 2-3 days after -- you look desperate--not a good thing. Good Luck

You could call after 2 or 3 days, after they have had time to interview other people, let them know you are still interested in the job if they are interested in you.

If you liked the job and want it, then definitely call back. It shows them that you're willing to make an effort and that you're eager to work - both of which are excellent qualities that all management looks for in employees. Good luck!

You should definitely call. It's kind of scary but if you do decide to then you either know right then that you are still in the running or they don't really want you. Sometimes they may forget to call you or something. You can give it a shot !

Wait till Tuesday then call back. This way you waited a reasonable amount of time...so you show initiative but don't come off as a pest or nuisance. Good luck.

Send a thank you letter or card.

You could call, once, in a few days.
