Answer more questions than you ask. If you do ask, select Best Answers. You can also vote for Best Answer for other people's questions. I can't remember whether or not giving stars gets you more points, but give that a try too.
Then again, points don't mean a thing, only that one is wasting lots of time here, present company included, lol.

The quickest way to get to level 4 is to only answer questions you believe you can get best answer for. Before answering, check to see if someone has already provided the answer you intended to give. Try to make your answers informative and sensible.

By voting.
Asking questions will get 5 points deducted.
Choosing best answer gets you 3 points back, but if you only limit yourself to doing that, you are down 2 points for each questions.
Voting for best answers (for undecided questions) will get you a point each, you can get points this way.

It doesn't exactly add up but you actually make points asking questions. I know some people on here that does nothing but ask questions add they gain points.

the more answers you ask the more points (2 per answered ) a question takes five points and when you pick best answer you only get three back!

I have thought about that too , briefly..not everyone will.
It is unrealistic to wonder about something that is in most all likelyhood, will never happen
