I am inclined to believe you meant to spell "Burgler"

Anyway, Despite the fact that it is ILLEGAL and a Class A Felony to use such a trap in order to catch a human being..
If you didn't get arrested or criminally charged..At the very least you would be Civilly sued into a state of non-existance

I will humor you this much. Check out the below listed e-mail address and scroll down to a #6 Bear Trap/Leg Hold Type

www.bugspray.com/professional/bridger.html

If you were to pay the $300 for the trap, and paid the $250 shipping charges to get it..You would need a cocking device or a Boy Scout Troop or a small army of foolish people to help you set the thing....Why not just dig a Tiger pit in your back yard under a window......... (Only Kidding of course)

We'll just consider the possibility of bear traps dead by now, because that isn't an appropriate answer. But if you want people to stay off you property, catch you. Carry a camera with them, and when you confront them take their picture and see if they will give you their name. Give them the proper legal warning (not a threat of setting up deadly devices under foot) that they are trespassing on marked private property. If you catch them a second time, you have the picture to prove that it isn't the first offense and then you have every right to contact the authorities. Stop the person and ask that they wait while you contact the authority (you can't make them wait because it isn't a serious enough offense in any sense of the word to place them under civilian arrest). Whether they leave or not, you have their picture and the law on your side. Also, if you catch them walking their dog and see it going to the washroom without picking it up, document that too. Also illegal.

Trapping a bugler is not hard because they are attracted by the smell of money. No bear trap is necessary nor is it recommended. Just contact ol' Chuck's manager and wave money at him and Bingo!! Ol Chuck will be at your doorstep.

Understanding the above views can save you many coins of the realm when dealing with physical traps.

I am in no way endorsing a physical trap for burglars but I certainly endorse this type of trap for thieves of another kind. http://www.investorwords.com/447/bear_trap.html

ALSO - more importantly, there are many ways to insure a lack of enthusiasm when burglars return from property.

Go to your local farm supply store and procure some of that nice electric fencing material. If done correctly, the burglar cannot enter the home without connecting with the fence and is in for quite a shock.

The noise made will give you time to load your mack bolan special and ensure he has other reasons for not returning as well.

Happy Hunting!

WELLL WHY DINT YOU SAY SO????

That makes it simple then. You leave out a big steak sammich with plenty of dripping Aus Jus sauce and when he comes prancing by twirling his baton you simply plink him with your carp fishing bow and reel him in.

What you do with him after that is your own business......

You want to trap a guy playing a bugle?

I understand Taps and Revelie can be annoying,
-but using a trap against a human being,
-regardless of what they're doing,
is a felony crime in and of itself.

Bear traps are hideously expensive,
due to substantial collector interest.

A better (and more legal plan), would be to go to Walmart and buy a security camera/digital recorder combo. I think they are about 130-150.00$, and can see in the dark by infared.

It's a lot cheaper than a 500.00 -1000.00$ bear trap, as well.

Catch the BURGLAR in action and give the recording to the police.
Wouldn't that be easier than standing there in handcuffs trying to explain why there's a guy on your property screaming with his leg half cut off?

My only question is what did the bugler do to you? They play taps in the morning?

Why waste the time and money? Watch the movie "Home Alone" for some ideas. Perhaps you are a sloppy homemaker and leave marbles or tacks on the floor in front of a window, it happens.

It is illegal to set Man traps, as logical as it sounds to do so. Personally, I believe anyone who breaks into someone elses home deserves to get what ever awaits them. In English common law, they would, as would they in the rest of the world. You can always wait for them to break in and make a citizens arrest.

go to your local building sup. store and buy a shed and convert it into a human size live trap. Both comical and probably legal. maby even buy a small live trap to model yours after. oh I wish I could help you with this project.

If you don't mind being sued, and losing everything that you own, have at it. If you trap a kid, or someone else, or even the burglar that you misspelled, you would be held liable for injuries incurred. It is a very dumb idea. Proceed at your own risk.
