What would be "impending" about a war with a country that attacked our sovereign territory 28 years ago, has been at war with us ever since, and continues to train the people who are killing our soldiers now?
Are you asking what are the signs that we might fight back?
None, I hope. I hope it comes as a complete surprise, and I'm sure it will.

Troop build up not the minor stuff now but massive in the order of the first Gulf "War", additional European Union member military deploying (in particular the French military), Iran moves troops even closer the border and threatens to invade, Iran intensifies it's special operations meddling in Iraq, and/or the U.N. says enough is enough comply within so long or use of force will be initiated. All pretty sure signs and ones that the Iranians should either pay attention too are refrain from doing.

Iran cannot happen soon .. here is why :
1. US cannot go after Iran alone. Its troops are tied down in Iraq and domestic opposition is growing.
2. Unlike Iraq where soldiers were waiting to surrender Iranians will fight in a fanatical manner.
3. Unlike the outdated Iraqi Hardware , Iran has high tech waepon systems and well trained troops.
4. Europe and rest of the world are not going to contribute troops.
5. Islamic terrorists will get another rallying point.
So there is no chance of a war with Iran. Best case is limited surgical strikes like the one on OSIRAQ by Israel

The U.S. is currently tapped out for troop strength, with wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. If the U.S. significantly draws down in both countries, it will have the troop strength to wage war in Iran.

Another nation looking for something/trouble whether it is there or not. As much as I hate to say, present day media accounts are more than enough to make me concerned. When one goes looking for trouble, it is usually found.
