Their are several uniforms that you could currently wear while working on a ship. For watchstandin most QD watches will be in either utilities or dress uniform. But for the most part everybody onboard wears coveralls. The Navy is going thru a uniform change and is getting rid of many of our uniforms and going to a bdu style in blue and grey(I believe these are the right colors) but the coveralls will be sticking around.

It depends.. For the most part it's coveralls and sometimes the utility uniform that was mentioned already.
On the flight deck though you have cammie pants with a turtleneck shirt, the color of which depends on what department you're in -maintenance, ordnance, etc.-, cranial, and float coat (salt water activated life preserver).
There's going to be a uniform change next year that will get rid of the coveralls and utility uniform. The flight deck garb will probably stay the same, but I don't know for sure as I haven't heard anything about it.

Depends on the ship and the situation. Generically speaking most people wear the new utility uniforms underway. Its basically a light blue shirt and dark blue work pants (like dickies pants). Some Engineering people wear their coverall uniforms underway (and everyone on a submarine wears coveralls underway)
That is all unless you are pulling into certain ports or homeport after an extended underway or deployment. in those situations you may wear your dress uniform particular to that region/time of the year. Example: pulling into Bremerton Washington in February most people would wear Dress Blues, pullin into Hawaii year round is Dress Whites for most of the crew. People on watch in specific places (engineroom, auxiliary machinery rooms etc) would wear utilities however

Most of the time I wore coveralls. In port, I wore a dungaree work uniform. As an engineer, I hardly ever wore my dress uniforms, except for inspections.
Most sailors still wear coveralls, as the new camo uniform has not came out yet as general issue.

I served on a navy ship in the mid 80's and we wore dungaree pants & the blue shirts for working in. The dress clothes for duty days and on our off time we could wear our civilian clothes even out to sea.
