It's okay grammatically, but I would prefer to say, "I found that strange, since I usually went out of my way to speak to her."

Almost spot on - except I would say: it was strange TO me, or even better, "I found it strange".

agree w Elaine though, the active voice is stronger and clearer than the passive.

I'd say strange "of" me...meaning unexpected
