Divorce hurts god deeply. However the one reason that he allows for divorce would be if one of the mates commit fornication. I could give you scripture but just believe me.
Once fornication has been committed you are allowed to remarry.
If your husband (or wife) was abusive it is grounds for separation but you would not be scriptural free to remarry.

God says in Quran that though I hate divorce the most, if husband and wife can not live together I allow the divorce. Pre-marital sex is strictly forbidden. Society take all kinds of measures to see that young boys and girls do not go out or have a chance to be together alone. There is severe punishment under the Islamic religious laws in a Islamic Republic for fornication.
If a women gets pregnant out of wedlock, abortion is forbidden. Ignorant Muslims do not approve the illegitimate child. Life of such a child and mother become hell. Religion calls parents illigitimate and not the child.

The only scriptural grounds for divorce is immorality. If a husband or wife commits fornication or adultery, that allows the innocent mate to divorce and re-marry with a clean conscience.
Death of a marriage mate also allows the surviving mate to marry again.

I don't care what it says in the Bible. The Bible was written a long long time ago when people thought women weren't really human, and that a woman was the property of her father or husband. In fact, by simply treating women as equal to men, Jesus comes off as some kind of super-feminist.
I think God wants us all to reach our potential, to do and to be all we can. And you can't reach your potential when you're stuck in a marriage with someone you don't get along with. Rather than live like that, I'm sure God would rather you get divorced and start again.

Sex relations outside the marriage is the only Scriptural ground for divorce allowing for remarriage.
Matthew 19:9- I say to YOU that whoever divorces his wife, except on the ground of fornication, and marries another commits adultery.”
Romans 7:2, 3-For instance, a married woman is bound by law to her husband while he is alive; but if her husband dies, she is discharged from the law of her husband. So, then, while her husband is living, she would be styled an adulteress if she became another man’s. But if her husband dies, she is free from his law, so that she is not an adulteress if she becomes another man’s.

According to God, the only grounds for divorce is fornication, which includes many unclean sexual practices, and the scripture is at Matthew chapter 19 and verse 9.

I have to say that no one and I mean no one can answer this question. To do so they are implying they know what God wants, thinks etc. If they say it's in the bible then again they can't prove it's the word of God. The bible was written by man so how they can claim it's the word of God I'll never understand.
Now if you were to ask opinions of the people here then I'd say that what they responded with would be their truth.

When you get married you make a promise to God it is for life. So if you seek divorce, you are breaking that promise which is a great sin.
If you want to have the option of divorce, you must make a different kind of promise to God.

IF my husband threatened my life or my children's was physically or emotionally abusive towards any of us (for example) yes I would leave him in a heartbeat...And as far as marrying another person if this were the situation and I found someone wonderful I might take it in consideration.

God does not do or agree with anything. The notion of a "god" was created by man kind himself... it seems to me that all the religious people do the talking on behalf of "god" no one has ever heard gods word. god is dead... god never even lived.
