Soya flour along with whole wheat flour for making chappaties twice a day ( we are Indians and chappaties are quite like pitta bread ), I make a lot of different veggies including greens and pulses, dried kidney beans, chikpeas, legumes etc. I put a handful of dry soya beans in all pulses legumes preparations. I insist on 2 fresh fruits a day and also a handful of almonds. Ice cream, mainly chocolate is something she enjoys 3 - 4 times a week. Non veg is a must once a day. I wonder if she is getting enough calcium in this diet. She doesn't take any calcium supplements.

Here is a website that will tell you how much calcium she needs at her age and all the foods that contain calcium---besides dairy. (Don't worry that it says 'birth control.')

It sounds like you are giving her many food items with calcium. You must know this; however . . . . . . .

Because milk (and dairy products in general) have SO MUCH protein, the protein counter balances the calcium, which robs calcium from your body, putting you into a negative calcium deficit.

It is the Dairy Council that puts ads out saying you need calcium from dairy, but they forget to mention all the protein and what it does to the calcium. That is why so many older people get osteoporosis after drinking milk all of their lives!

Soy milk is a great alternative to dairy. And many green veggies have calcium also.

Keep up the good work - think about losing the chocolate ice cream and go to soy ice cream and other soy diary products

Did you know your body can absorb more calcium from a 4 ouz serving of broccoli than an 8 ouz glass of milk?

Dairy is really big business. The truth? Dairy sucks the magnesium out of your bones and wreaks all kinds of havoc on your body.

Look, your 15 year old needs raw vegetables and steamed vegetables.

Before the Industrial age, what did people drink? It wasn't dairy every day and people were just fine. Asians have no history of osteoporosis and didn't drink cows milk.

Ever since cows milk has been introduced to their culture, they are now suffering from diseases brought on by cows milk.

she's getting plenty. WAY more than me. im lactose intolerant and allergic to milk protein, so i can't have anything with milk in it.

if you're unsure, go to a professional nutritionist. how much calcium she needs depends on her body. they can tell you if she's getting enough calcium much better than i can

diary is not needed for human adults, it causes more problems than it solves. humans ingest and combine many food items that they should not.

adult mammals do not consume milk, I don't understand why people believe the bs spread by big business (dairy industry).
