I've applied to become a police dispatcher. I just took the CA state test and feel that I'd have no problem learning and dealing with job related stress. (I know, I shouldn't count my eggs yet when I haven't even gotten back my test results)

Although, the only real thing that concerns me is whether or not I'll ever really have that "free" time on my days off. Whether or not I'll see my bf again (we live 100 miles apart). Also, what's the chances of being called into work on my day off?

You will appreciate your days off, trust me. It would depend on what shift you would work, and what shift your bf works as far as how often you will see one another. And chances of being called in, or "ordered" in are good - if the other dispatchers call in sick often.

You will have your days off. Its just like most other jobs. You have the possibility of getting called in at times, but not usually. Good luck.

Hard to say. If they are needing help due to others who are ill, they may call you. I find it strange that you are worring more about time off before you even get the job. Which is more important, your job or your time off?
