I am a Christian but have been having very un-Christianlike thoughts lately (sinful). I know that if one thinks it, it is as bad as doing it and I don't want that so, how could I get these bad thoughts out of my head? I am serious and would appreciate some serious answers...not jibes from non-believers.
Thank you and God bless!

First be comforted that all people sin, in word and thought and deed, there is not one who is not! For a comforting passage, read 1 John 1.

1 Pray to God in confession of sin and for guidance and help
2 Fill 'bored' or 'temptation' time with wholesome things.
3 If you are regularly tempted in a specific area and you cannot stop, but seriously want to, look at a resource like http://www.settingcaptivesfree.com/home/courses.php

The Lord's blessings!

let me make two things clear before i answer your question: i am not a believer, and i am not jibing you at all.

being religious is not the same thing as being a saint, and having religion, while it can lead you onto the right track usually, is no guarantee of being perfect. everybody of every religion, including atheism, has unclean thoughts once in a while; its just part of being human. its as natural as hunger and thirst, and thats nothing to be ashamed of as long as you dont let them control you.

You are not to blame for the sinful impulses that Satan puts into your head. You just don't have to dwell on it.

If you try NOT to think about evil things, then you WILL think about it. It is better to try to distract yourself by thinking of good, holy, and pure things instead. And of course, you can always pray and ask God for help.

You should act on them since you already committed the sin by the thoughts, may as well enjoy the actual act.

Replace the icky thoughts with things that are of the Lord. You may have to keep yourself busy with service projects (volunteer at a soup kitchen, become a youth leader, etc.), turn off the television (better yet -- get rid of it), etc. to do this successfully.

If the thoughts are involuntary and you do not act on them or perpetuate them, then there is no real sin.

answer: prayer and distraction!
