Diet and exercise are an important part of maintaining a healthy immune system. It's not really feasible to believe that you can boost your immune system "overnight". However, the natural immune system is quite good. It's too good for its own good sometime.
In the case of battling microbes it can be so efficient that in some cases it works against what it is trying to accomplish. The immune system needs a little help sometime.
Using a moderate amount of alcohol weekly will help the immune system. Studies have indicated that it can work ( in particular red wine is beneficial ). Peppermint oil lozenges used on a regular basis would be my next suggestion. When used in lozenge form the peppermint combines with saliva to form a powerful weapon against bacteria and viruses. In my opinion, this combination has the ability to lessen the severity of even a common cold. You can go to the top HIV/AIDS researcher in the world and ask if this combination of alcohol and peppermint oil lozenges will have an effect against this type of virus that will keep the immune system healthy. It has been documented that the herb peppermint will work against stomach ailments. This combo could be an even better alternative. I'm sure medical professionals will want to do the studies to prove my theory. They shall be thrilled if it can work to lower health costs for all people and at the same time maintain a healthy immune system for all patients.

There are lots of claims from "magic formula" drinks, etc., but the best way to keep a healthy immune system is to eat a healthy balanced diet regularly. Eat all the basic food groups in the proper proportion, and especially the veggies and fresh fruit and juices. No "supplement" can take the place of these. Sure, take a vitamin for "insurance" if you want. But make your diet your main course. Your body knows what is real and what is synthetic. And get exercise. This is what keeps your nutrients flowing to all your cells. > Aside from the "positives", avoid the "baddies", such as tobacco, alcohol, etc.. These deplete your immune system. Get enough sleep and rest, but don't overdo it. Don't be a couch potato. Keep a good attitude. Attitude is very important. Find reasons to laugh a lot. Laugh with friends. It does amazing things for your wellbeing.

If you want to make your immune system stronger the best thing is to drink a Glass of water with a half of a lemon squeezed into it everyday-or every other day! Also, use olive oil for your salads, assuming you eat them once in a while. Ginger in all forms is great, it cleans your system. Green vegetables are great for your health and yogurt is very good too. But the lemon thing works like magic, you can never be sick again by doing just that!!!

What most everyone has said really:
Avoid stress
avoid doctors (yes, really)
Eat healthy, try to get organic if possible
Avoid artificial EVERYTHING - including sweeteners (try Stevia for a natural sugar alternative)
Avoid High Fructose Corn Syrup and MSG like the plague
Exercise
Get plenty of rest. In bed by 10:00 is recommended for most who sleep best at that time. But watch your own clock, my best sleep is between 5a.m. and 8a.m.
DON'T use antibacterial soaps, they kill the good bacteria too and make an imbalance in your system. They are also hard on your organs, including your thyroid glands
Avoid Sugar as much as possible - it is an immune suppressant
Pump up the garlic and vinegar use in your life. Natural immune system supporters
DO NOT get the flu shot, it has horrible things in it like mercury, formaldehyde and of course viruses. None of which will help build a healthy immune system.

Read a good book on immune system management. My recommendation: "90-Day Immune System Makeover" by Dr. Janet Maccaro, who recovered her immune system from what MDs called incurable, debilitating diseases. Another good one is anything Jordan Rubin. He also recovered from what was supposed to be incurable diseases and shares his story and how to do it yourself in his books.

Congrats on your road to a healthy immune system!

Research over the past ten years has shown that nutrition plays a major role in supporting the production and action of both the cells and the soluble factors of the immune system. Protein, antioxidants, essential fatty acids, and certain vitamins, and minerals are all key to a healthy immune system.
I guess the best thing is to eat right and exercise.

Make sure you exercise a minimum of 20 minutes a day.
Eat lots of fruits and breads, dairy and some lean meat.
Make sure that you are getting enough vitamins, and if not supplement them with vitamins, especially vitamin C for the immune system.

Good Luck and Live well!

The best way to maintain a healthy immune system is regular exercise, healthy diet and plenty of rest. Quick fix solutions may be attractive but they will never provide the full benefit.
